Ahhh.

Today I’m thankful for health.  Even when I’m sick (although, thank the Lord, I AM feeling better now), I’m still thankful for overall good health.  I’m also thankful for Advil Cold and Sinus and Alkaseltzer Cold fizzy tabs.

“I’m not a big fat panda!  …I’m THE big fat panda.”

Sorry.  I know that was random.  I just got sidetracked watching KungFu Panda that KC turned on to fall asleep to…lol.  He makes like he’s going to watch a movie and then I get all comfy on my computer and I look over and he’s sleeping and I end up watching the movie.  LOL.  My favorite line from that movie is the little kungfu master getting all frustrated with the Panda and sitting there going, “I-i-i-in-in-inner peaccccce, i-i-inner peace…”  I use that line a lot.  LOL.  ;-)

And now that I’ve dropped that little bit of random along with my thankful thing for the day, I’m going to bed.  Night. =)

Some Days

In life, sometimes you're the bug, sometimes you're the windshield.

The kids watched Space Buddies last night.  That quote from one of the pups is   so appropriate today.

*sigh*

Today I’m definitely the bug.  Splat.

Need To Find Some Happy

For some reason a lot of the stuff that’s crossed my mind lately has been a little sad or emotional…today I was watching bits and pieces of Antwone Fisher (great story on foster care issues) and this poem kinda hit me in the gut and made my eyes water just a bit.

Who will cry for the little boy?
By Antwone Fisher

Who will cry for the little boy? Lost and all alone.
Who will cry for the little boy? Abandoned without his own?

Who will cry for the little boy? He cried himself to sleep.
Who will cry for the little boy? He never had for keeps.

Who will cry for the little boy? He walked the burning sand.
Who will cry for the little boy? The boy inside the man.

Who will cry for the little boy? Who knows well hurt and pain.
Who will cry for the little boy? He died again and again.

Who will cry for the little boy? A good boy he tried to be.
Who will cry for the little boy? Who cries inside of me.

So somebody, SOME body, please tell me something happy!?  Between those songs and pages I made for my grandparents and stuff like the poem above…well…I’m about tired of my eyes watering like this.

The foster care thing is going okay…Little Momma is still taking really good care of Little Bit and has opened up to me slightly.  She is only a couple of months away from aging out of foster care and I’m not sure what the court is going to decide about her and Little Bit, but I hope, for her sake, that it works out for her.  Still don’t know what will happen after Monday, but we’ll see.

Munchkin only has a couple weeks left of school before graduating Kindergarten…yikes…can’t believe she’s gonna be a first grader in a few months.  Oh no…here I go again…I need another Dr. Pepper.  And a tissue.

Somebody?  Happy?  Hello?  Any happy out there?

Wordless Wednesday

PDVD_010 I guess you probably need to have seen the movie "Cars" to get this, but this is what I came upon the K-man doing with his "racecars" yesterday.  Complete with the LOUD "racing the engine" noise.  HAH.

Ten on Tuesday: Un-favorite Celebs

This week's Ten on Tuesday is Least Favorite Celebrities. This should be fairly easy. Actually, I could probably list good reasons to dislike a WHOLE lot more than ten. LOL. This will just be the top ten Un-Favorites. Hehehe...not like they care or anything.

(oh yeah, and in the list below, under 18 -- don't click on the links. It's a Christian site, but the content is for adults who are trying to find out the truth in order to protect their kids. It's not whitewashed.)
1. Madonna - nuff said
2. Britney Spears - pretty much the same for this one....these guys can't stay out of the news longer than a few days, can they? Discusting.
3. Any and all of those preteen girls that play up the "good girl" image and then go wild....blah blah blah....if you're gonna do that, don't spend all your time playin' up the image.
4. Heath Ledger - I don't wanna speak ill of the dead, but he is still on my un-favorites.
5. Billy Crudup - it's all in the name for that one. Yuck.
6. Kid Rock - yuck. how obscene.
7. Colin Farrell - ugh. Irritating.
8. Mike Myers/Austin Powers - Beyond irritating, not to mention vulgar. Ew.
9. Paris Hilton - I don't think I've ever heard or seen anything remotely good about her.
10. Tom Cruise - He seems to be way out there...religion, romance....plus he's just plain annoying.

This is one chick that is very thankful it's their world and not mine. I'd hate it. For multiple reasons.

Deal or No Deal

So we made a deal last night (I'm sure you probably figured out what my end of the conversation sounded like based on my recent blog post....LOL). One week of trying to focus on the positives. He has to be positive about work and church and I have to be positive about the kids and house. Yeah. So now he's adding on to the deal....now I have to make a list like he did. And I have to blog it. Ten things. Not only that but ten things a day. Blogged. Boy.....he's feeling ambitious, huh, since if I have to do it, you better best believe I'll be making mister slacker blogger live up to his end of the deal.

Anyways.....since he's already beat me to the first list, I guess I'll get going. By the way, honey, I know you're reading this and I'm adding a new rule....can't repeat a positive. Except, I'll allow you to repeat the first one you used. I kinda liked that one. LOL!!!! Anyways, I'm kidding about the exceptions...so no repeats. *GRIN*

Ten Positives (Day 1)

1. K-man pooped in the potty tonight.

2. I have a really cute hubby on my computer desktop. (Oh and by the way, I got that really cool desktop here if anyone else wants to do that. You'll just need to know a bit of some photo editing to add your picture to it.)

3. My really cute hubby writes really sweet things about me on his blog. And as an additional fun thing, my really cute, sweet hubby has a sense of humor that just cracks me up. Regularly. I love that. Like just now, while opening a can of diet pepsi (a caffeine habit that we are both trying to break and are rationing out the small remainder of liquid heaven), he says in a very mournful Ice Age manner, "The latht diet pepthi." (you know....like those little birds playing football or whatever with the last melon? LOL) Anyways....so maybe only I would appreciate that, but hey. LOL.

4. Today I took lunch into Munchkin's room and we had a picnic on the floor on her little dishes where she was playing pretend camping.

5. Me and Munchkin got all the rocks out of the back of the truck this afternoon and put in the drainage ditch down one side of the drive.

6. I noticed when we were putting down the rocks that there is a LOT of new grass coming up where we tossed it out in a desperate attempt to keep the fresh topsoil we put out from washing away.

7. I took a 20 minute nap with the Munchkin when she laid down today and it felt really nice.

8. We have had some really really good services at church recently.

9. We grilled out on the grill for the first time tonight. KC burned it b/c he wasn't used to regulating the temperature. (No, really, that's a positive b/c I LOVE my hotdogs black. In the future, he'll get used to the grill and cook them normally, so I have to appreciate it for the moment. LOL)

10. Munchkin and I have started the Father's Day gifts from the kids to the Poppa, Pawpaw, and Daddy. We're doing wooden this year, so we got the base paint on the objects and now they are dry on the table and I need to get the rest of the projects completed. LOL.

Really, that wasn't TOO hard. The hard part was not adding in the rest of the story....like the fact that I just happened to be checking K-man's diaper when I saw a little something starting to appear, and it wasn't...um....juicy, so I rushed him to the toilet in time for him to go on the pot. Or the fact that KC took the keys to the truck with him to work, so we had to use the wheelbarrow and buckets to move all the rock from the truck all the way down the driveway b/c I couldn't move the truck any closer to the work area. Or that Munchkin only slept for about an hour instead of her usual 2+ hour nap....and that was after arguing for 15 minutes about wanting to keep playing.......well, you know. I'm like Paul Harvey...I just have a hard time not giving the rest of the story. HAHA.

Anyways...I'll quit for now....before I get negative again. LOL.

Later!

Random Notes from Easter Sunday

Now before you get excited, don't worry, this isn't like some deep discussion on the death and resurrection of Christ. Just strictly noting things from Sunday for memories sake. That and the fact that I'm going to make a little mini book of the trip and I'll need to write the stuff down for journalling so I might as well do it here. *grin*

And a brief note on the whole Easter thing....it kinda goes along with all the other holidays...in my opinion. I celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus EVERY day b/c he lives in my heart. Just like I celebrate his BIRTH every day and not just at Christmas. Most holidays, as we know them, originated from pagan celebrations, so technically I'm not sure Jesus would want to be connected to those dates anyways. Which is why we just celebrate those days as something "fun" and as a tradition kind of thing. Not that anyone really cares to know my opinion on the whole matter....anywho.

So Sunday morning we got up early in the hotel room (stayed at the Hampton Inn....LOVE that place...their beds and easy peasy wireless access in the rooms just ROCKS!) and got our stuff packed and got our showers and everything ready to check out. Then we went to get KC's mom for church. I'm going to skip the whole topic of church as well, except to say that it was great to see all the folks we haven't seen in ages. Oh, and must note that during church, K-man wet through his diaper TWICE....once it filled up KC's mom's lap and once he was on my hip and we were all standing up singing when I suddenly felt something really WARM running down me. UGH. And I don't understand what the deal was, since his diaper didn't really seem full when I changed it, plus he hadn't had that much to drink. Weird. And aggravating, too! Nothing like having your nice clothes reek of urine. LOVELY. Yet, I refused to change him b/c we hadn't yet gotten pictures of the kids all dressed up. HAHA. One of the good things about him wearing black dress pants that were very thin....they didn't show any wet spots. HA! Bad mommy. I know.

Got back to KC's grandma's and dropped his mom back off and we all changed clothes (AFTER pictures...LOL) and I gave the kids their Easter baskets with a very small amount of sugar included and then we hit the road.

Left at 2 and stopped 3 times for food/gas/potty breaks. Got home right at 10. I was pretty impressed with our time, since we were travelling with two small kids and still managed to drive pretty much straight thru and even came through a short area of one lane construction. Total stopped time was probably about 1/2 hour between all three stops and the kids did amazingly well. K-man got a teeny bit fussy during the very last half hour of the trip, but only b/c Munchkin had fallen asleep by that time and I turned the movie off in hopes that he would join his sister in ZZZ-land. It didn't work, but at least he didn't wake her up with his fussing. All in all, I'd say they traveled very well and I was appropriately impressed and not a little thankful....although at several points, I did think to myself....how in the world did people travel with small kids before they created personal dvd players?!? Hahah!

I posted some of the pictures on my Myspace page, so if you're friends with me, you can go check them out...LOL. They're pretty funny.

Monday Messages (another random edition)

Dear Allergist....
Yikes...why are there such things as 1pm appointments for those of the age of napping. Wouldn't you think it was going to be a fun visit ANYWAYS when you have to poke the poor kid with 24 little needles, without adding the cranky napless factor to the mix??? Whew. I hope you weren't thinking that all those tantrums he was throwing were a result of my (lack of) parenting skills. Not that I care if you think that or not, but just so you know, he had a very good reason for his behavior. And I had a very good reason for putting him to bed 2 hours early tonight. LOL. Like the reason that he was driving me crazy with the cranky factor. LOL.
Sincerely,
Happy that he's not allergic to any of the common allergens....

(not so) Dear work,
Ask me if I really want to go in again tomorrow. No, you don't even have to ask. I'll just tell ya. NOOOOOOO.
Sincerely,
The human in Office 167 (I think--about the office part that is...not the human part....ROFL)

Dear hubby,
Hmmmmm....can't say that on here. Okay...so---well, can't say that either....LOL. Okay how bout just a simple, "I love you" and "You're the best" and "I'm so lucky."
Cuz....well....you know. That pretty much sums it up.
Love you forever,
Your Dory

Dear Sheriff,
Never! Yew must CHEWS, Sheriff Woody! HOW shall she die? Shark or death by MONKEYYYYY?
-Evil Doctor Porkchop

Dear car,
Hey...are you happy? I had a few spare minutes this afternoon so I cleaned all those nasty little juice splashes and mud marks off your seats. I even wiped you down with a bit of Armor All after I cleaned you up. WOOHOO. Yay for you! I'd ask you to keep it clean, but I know it's not really your fault. Those two adorable little munchkins that ride back there just can't control their messy natures. Oh well. Just forgive me for not doing it sooner. You did look pretty pathetic before I took care of business. LOL.
Sincerely,
Your Neglectful Owner (the other owner isn't quite so neglectful)

Dear Munchkin,
I find it pretty disturbing that when I picked you up from school this afternoon, the first thing you said when you opened the car door was "OOOOH, mommy, you cleaned the car!!!! It's BOOTIFUL!" Couldn't you at least have taken longer than 3 seconds to notice? Then maybe I wouldn't feel so bad about the state we allowed it to reach before it got cleaned. YOW.
Love,
Mommy

Dear K-man,
Actually, I find it pretty impressing that you didn't throw MORE tantrums with everything you had to put up with today. I tried to be understanding, but honestly, if I had been in your shoes, I probably would have been grumpier. So I couldn't really get mad at you. My poor little guy. I'm sorry you had to get all stuck up (with needles that is). But I'm really glad you're not allergic to all those things. And I'm pretty impressed with how fast you recovered. Course, the three pouches of candy, I had the foresight to bring along, probably sped up the process, but you know. Sleep well tonight, buddy. All night, if you please....and quietly, okay? Thanks!
Love,
Mommy

Dear Blogland,
I'm going to bed now.
Sincerely,
Always.faith

Whooo---EEEEE

It has been a day.

Where do I start? The beginning is so far back, I hate to think about covering all that ground.

Anywho, called in sick to work today and went to the doc instead. Acute sinusitis. Lovely. Said to take the antibiotics and they should kick it out in no time. Heavens, but I hope so. I'm sick o' bein' sick. Doc also said that the achy body I've had for the last few days is related to the infection and it should be going away soon, too. Please, God, let it be so. I slept in the recliner for a good couple of hours after I got back from the doc. I wasn't hungry at lunch, so I skipped and just slept instead. Of course, part of the reason I wasn't very hungry might have had something to do with the fact that I had this conversation with the nurse:

Nurse: "Alright, hop up on the scales there, missy. Here, let me take your purse......whoa (nurse gasping at the weight of it)."

Me: (laughing) "Yeah, that would add at least 10 pounds to my weight." (watching nurse adjust the weights on the scales......adjusting.....adjusting....stopping at 142) "Oooooooh. I've gained a bit of weight." (uhoh)

Nurse: "Come over here to the other scale, that can't be right, you ain't no bigger than a pea, let's try this one." (adjusting.....adjusting.....stopping at 142) "Well, you sure don't look it, you skinny little thing, you make me sick." (have to add here that this is my favorite nurse and she's always teasing and joking around....)

Me: (still laughing) "Whatever."

I know I'm tall, and I know I'm not fat, but I've always been a 129 kind of girl. 142 just makes me cringe when it's me standing on the scales.

Anywho, needless to say, there may have been a good reason I lost my appetite at lunch today....a good reason besides being sleepy. Ha. Not that being sleepy isn't a good reason, too.

Whatever. Hopefully I'll get through with this medicine....all of it...and be my normally happy and non-medicated self again soon. Hopefully.

Oh, and let's add in there, 129. My normally happy and non-medicated 129lb self. Heh.

In other news.....K-man did some water in the potty tonight. WOOOHOOO. After he stood next to the tub and peed on the rug right after I took off his diaper for his bath for two nights in a row, I decided maybe he was ready to start doing it on the potty. So I brought out his little potty and when I took off his diaper tonight, I sat him on it and waited. No bribes, no begging....not that I'm above that by no means, but for now I'm okay with him doing it on his own time. Anyways, I waited and suddenly he started going....only he wasn't sitting right and it was going UP instead of DOWN, however I very quickly (while avoiding the shower) showed him how to fix that and he finished in the potty on his own. YIPPEEE. Then I just praised and praised and praised....and cleaned up the floor (we'll work on that part later...or maybe DADDY will work on that part later....haha....sounds like a great idea to me!!!!). And then on with the bath routine as usual. Love that boy. He's so cuddly right out of the bath....I have to RUSH to get him dried off before he throws himself and the towel into my arms and cuddles up and then I can't get the towel (or him) unwrapped enough to finish drying him. HAHA.

Let's see. That was a good bit of today. I had a couple of other things I wanted to write about, but I guess I'll save them for another day since they're kinda older thoughts anyways and a few more days won't hurt.

Skipping the Monday messages for this week. Since I've already almost finished this post before I thought about it and I don't want to go back and rewrite all that into Monday Messages. So anyways. I'm off for now.....munchkin is fighting the sleepy monster tonight and I need to go check on her.

Oh yeah, and she watched Beauty and The Beast tonight. She was HYSTERICAL to watch....when beauty and the beast were dancing, she was swaying back and forth and saying beauty and the beast with the song....ehhehee. it was cute. and then at the end, when belle was crying over the beast and he died, she was like "oh no, he killed, oh no. awwwwww. OH?!? beast getting up!!! awww they kissin!!!!" and she just kept tilting her head and she was soo into it. It was FUNNY. And after it was over, she kept talking about it. It was cute.

Alright. Going now. Later!

Random Conversation....

Jango (howling): "MEEEEEEEEEOOOOOWWWWWWRRRRRWWWW"
Daddy (exasperated to the cat): "Go to the bathroom!"
a good thirty second pause.....
Munchkin (watching a movie but sounding highly offended): "Me not need to go to the bafwoom, Daddy!"
Daddy: "Not you, JANGO!"
Munchkin: "Gango?"
Daddy: "Yes, Jango...."
Munchkin: "Oh. Gango need to go to the bafwoom? Go to the bafwoom, Gango! Go poopy, cat!"
Jango: "Meow."

three minutes later....out of the blue.......
Munchkin (watching Monsters): "Me hove you, too, Mike Wagawgi!!!!!!"

Anger Management Issues

I think. I think I work with idiots. I also think I am included in said idiots.

When, oh WHEN, will I ever LEARN??????

Today was one of those days that I would just as soon NOT had to go to work. Actually, today was one of those days when I would have gladly paid money for the ability to sink into the floor or be like Violet on the Incredibles....ya know, when she just gets invisible? Yah. That would have been a lovely superpower to have had possession of today.

*sigh*

Anyways. So that sounded all confusing.

Let me try to tell it without griping too much (since I got a gentle lecture on that negative attitude today, I'll try to get a grip on griping....lol). So just the facts.

Fact: I work with crazy people.
Fact: I do not work in a mental institution.
Fact: These people are supposed to be intelligent.
Fact: I have no clue why un-intelligent things keep happening.
Fact: This is cause for an occasional loss of control of my anger.
Sarcasm: I'm sure I've never done ANYTHING dumb in MY life.
Fact: I get highly agitated at my own dumb moves frequently.
Fact: Between my dumb moves and the dumb moves of others which result in me reacting with dumb moves, I get aggravated a lot.

Conclusion: I might be a candidate for anger management classes.

Today? Case in point.

This RUSH order of tshirts at work which I put through a requisition to purchase so that we can get them back in time for the fundraiser.....I mentioned to my approver the day that I submitted it, that if he didn't mind, please approve it immediately and also pass the word along to the other folks in the (long) list of approvers so that this could be a quicker than normal process (due in part to the fact that we're being charged for a RUSH order and if we can't get them back b/c it didn't get through the system quick enough, then it kinda defeats the purpose of "RUSH"). So I submitted it. I have also been extremely busy in the 24 or so hours following that action, so I hadn't checked my mail other than to glance through it and grab the ones that seemed urgent. Like the email in which my approver copied me on his note to the other approvers saying that he'd approved it and please get it through as soon as possible and here's why...blah blah blah.

So today around three-thirty, I finally get around to clearing out my inbox, answering all the calls and what not, and realize that I haven't seen anymore of the little email notices saying that each approver has signed off on it. Now I know my approver has approved it, b/c I saw an email on that, so I call the next approver (who, by the way, I am completely terrified by....mostly because I've been on the receiving end of her wrath more times than I can count, for reasons that have sometimes, but not always, been my fault) and VERY timidly ask her if there were any problems with my purchase request that were causing her not to approve it so that it could move down the line.

Well. Turns out, my approver didn't really approve it. That little email I saw, was the one where he SAID he approved it, b/c I was so busy, I must have missed the fact that it wasn't the o-feeshul email notice. OOPS. So now I feel REALLY dumb. Not only that, but my approver has left for the day. Somehow I missed that memo. GREAT. This is Friday, even if he finds it over the weekend, the chances of it getting through by Monday are NIL, since the business office is closed on weekends.

So I hang up the phone, screech out (not at the top of my lungs but pretty loudly) "ARRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHH!!!!! I WORK WITH STINKIN IDIOTS!!!!!!!!!!"

Then I bang my head on my desk a few times (not really, but I felt like it) and then grab one of those big bright yellow post it notes and write--- PERSON-- THE TSHIRT ORDER HAS NOT BEEN APPROVED BY YOU! Then I got up and marched down the hall to his office.

Now I have to mention at this point, that my supervisor was not in her office either, which is right next door to her supervisor's office (who is my approver for requisitions). Basically, the place was pretty deserted, being that it was Friday and most of the classes were gone for the day, as well as a good bit of our staff. So I walked up to my approver's door which was closed and the lights were out and I let loose a little frustration and SLAMMED that post-it note on the door, right about eye level. Then I spun on my heel.....

...to see my approver's supervisor (who works like in the main office down the hill and hasn't been in our building in probably 3 months) walking toward me with raised eyebrows.

In the midst of my aggravation, both at the original situation and at the fact that my supervisor's supervisor's supervisor witnessed my display of temper, I looked straight at him, said, "ARGHGHHHH" and then spun around again and walked away from him. Which probably wasn't the brightest idea in the world....but hey....

Well, anyway, I didn't get very far. Maybe three steps.

"Whoa," he says, "what's the problem here?"

So of course....I told him. And he suggested we call my approver on his cell phone. Which I don't have. So then he calls my terror and says, override the approver and lets get this thing through, which required him to have to go back to his office when he left to put his approval on it (and he was already off work....which was rather nice of him). Then I got a very gentle lecture on being negative and how that doesn't help anyone or anything (no, it doesn't, he's right.....I guess technically Jesus probably wouldn't have slammed the post-it note on the door, OR yelled that when they hung up the phone either, for that matter....oops).....and then he left. I saw him in the hall a few minutes later, caught by more complaints from different people. LOL. I thought that was funny....hello....it's not just one person that is having a problem with crazy here....

*sigh* Anyways. For the record, they got the same lecture.

So, I guess that just leaves you, dear blog, to which I can express my frustration to keep me from slamming post-it notes on doors. ROFL. If I don't vent somewhere, I'll just blow....see, that's why I had problems today....I haven't been able to post any good vents lately. HAHA.

I'm just glad he didn't walk down the hall when I was screaming about the idiots I work with.

As an aside, I do work in a somewhat solitary part of the hall now, and the few people that work in earshot weren't in their offices at the time.....so it wasn't like I was totally careless about voicing my agony. Also as an aside, I really do keep a pretty good reign on my temper, and for you straightlaced, who may take offence at this post, it's rather tongue in cheek....

One more aside....I refuse to put "asides" explaining myself on all posts, so if you are the type to offend easily, you're more than welcome....to find another blog to read. I say that as nice as I possibly can, but I don't really like the pins and needles feeling of wondering if someone is going to take this or that the wrong way.....the only place I like my pins and needles are in the sewing box. Don't forget, there is a content disclaimer and statement of intent for this blog over in the sidebar. For what it's worth, this blog is "me." Love me or leave me.

Hey. I ain't mad about it. Anger management and all......and I'll love ya anyways.

Oh. For a smile....random bits of conversation heard around the Always House tonight:

While shaking fists and mostly playfully attempting to look angry: "ME not HAPPY, BOOOBBBBB!!!!"
ClipartCredit

Pulling back from hug first thing this morning: "Mommy, you not mell good. You tink. EW."
Hurt: "Huh? I just got out of the shower, I smell the same as always! What do you mean, I stink?" Deo? check. brushed teeth? check. perfume? same as usual, check. I'm confused.
Apologetically: "You mell good, mommy. You not tink. It's okay."

2 hours later: ohhhhhh....that's right, i had to use that funky sample conditioner in the shower cuz my regular was empty and it does smell different. not bad, just different....kinda coconutty and slightly more scented than usual.....that must have been what she meant. oops. guess she don't like coconut. LOL

Talking to the rolled up bath mat package that we were buying at walmart tonight that she was holding in the buggy: "YOU not LISTEN, baby. ME listen. YOU BAD. You need listen to me!"
hmmm.....so maybe this explains the note on her daily sheet from preschool, "had a hard time listening today." LOL. Just funny to see her talking to a rolled up bath mat. BWAHAHA.

Anywho.

Me tired now.

Later.

Random Conversations (The Incredible Edition 2)

Oh this is funny, I just remembered this as I was reading that last post from the other day.

Munchkin was watching the "gedibuls" in her room the other night while I was working and it got to that line that we got such a laugh out of, and I said again, "IT'S NOT ABOUT YOU, BOB!!"

Then Munchkin responds in all seriousness, as if she's given it an incredible amount of thought, "It's not about Bob, it's about the FAMILY!"

And then I picked my jaw up off the floor and said, "You're right, sweetie, it's about the family."

Some days I find myself repeating over and over, "She is three. She is three. She is THREEE!"

Seriously. How does she understand some of this stuff? I know some adults who still don't get that concept. LOL.

Anyways. Thought that was quite interesting.

Random Conversations (The Incredible Edition)

"IT'S NOT ABOUT YOU, BOB!!!!" -Mrs. Incredible speaking to Mr. Incredible about his feelings of unsatisfaction with their mediocre life as normal people.

"IT'S NOT ABOUT YOU, BOB!!!" -Faith repeating the lines to KC as they were getting ready to get out of the car at home and the movie had just shut off in the back seat.

"IT'S NOT ABOUT YOU, MOMMY!!!" -KC twisting the lines to Faith as he unbuckled his seat belt.

"IT'S NOT ABOUT ME." -Faith twisting the lines back and climbing out of the car.

"IT'S NOT ABOUT ME!!!!!" -KC as he removed himself from the driver's seat and prepared to open Munchkin's door.

then, emphatically, plain as day, from the backseat.....

"it's about BOBBBBBBBB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

KC and Faith burst out laughing. That was TOTALLY unexpected. We were so just being goofy and playing around when she chimes in with that and it was SOOO funny. The kid sure does love the "gedibuls."

Anywho, no monday messages today. My head hurts and I'm not in the letter writing mood today.

However, guess who relinquished today?

Yep. Now. We'll see what happens. I'm not counting my eggs until they hatch. I do know they are going to give BioM one more chance to have that last visit, but I'm really hoping she'll just bomb out on it b/c now that it's been almost a month since she's seen her, the munchkin is almost completely back to her sweet little non-monster-like self. *grin* I'm sure you don't need to ask to know how I feel about THAT! Haha. But I guess we'll see how it progresses. I have a lot of hope that things will go smoothly and we'll get to adopt the munchkin, but like I said. I'm not going to count on anything until it's definite.

So ya'll peeps who read my blog are really amazing me. I had no clue that some of you were reading. Sweet of you guys. Ya'll need to start one up. Speaking of starting one, I will get back to ya'll who emailed me about the different questions on blogging (and cameras) very soon.

Anyways, you people on my "friends who blog" list need to get busy blogging. I'm missing your posts, guys. And you friends who aren't on that list need to get a blog and let me know what it is so I can link you and read you. It's so not fair that ya'll know all this stuff about me and I don't get to read all the details of ya'lls lives/thoughts/projects, too!!! *grin* Just felt like complaining a bit. I love you guys anyways. =)

Well, my head hurts. I don't remember what I posted last or if I caught all the weekend details up on here or not....I did finish the clock for munchkin's room. It doesn't match perfectly, but it'll do. I like it alright. I'll have to get some pictures of it and the curtains soon. I still need to do the headboard and maybe some kind of cute artwork to hang up in there. The walls are bare. I should probably come up with some way to scrap and hang the pictures of her with her nonna and poppa and mawmaw and pawpaw. Right now they're just printed on computer paper and taped to the wall. Doesn't flow with the cute decor at all....I need to get real pictures printed and make a cute frame or something for them. Well, we're getting there. =)

I'm going to go hold my head and moan now. LOL.

Later!

Sick + Kids = No fun

But hey look....this makes two posts in the same number of days.....this is progress!!! LOL

Unfortunately, I have no really funny incidents to post....I seem to have hit a block in my dumb stunts....knock on wood. That's mostly because I've done little except try to not pull my hair out while trying to get this kid to drink liquids and not throw fits b/c her throat is hurting her.

Ya'll. This is getting like....so old. And I can only imagine how she feels.

Last night I made myself a pallet out of a handful of blankets and slept on the floor in her room b/c I had to be up comforting her every time she woke up crying and unconsolable which was about once an hour.....and I didn't want to wake KC up that often every time I had to roll out of bed and rush in there to soothe her. *sigh* It was definitely much faster to roll....er....climb off the floor and be patting her within two seconds of her crying. She just has to be close to me....I have gotten nothing done all day....but she's been wonderful today....well....at least much better....in comparison.

All I've done today is lay on the floor next to her on last night's bed of blankets and read my book while she watches barney and elmo and various other irritating kid movies. I say irritating b/c if I have to hear "I am learning to spell my name, each and every letter, it's almost like a game, each day you get better" (imagine that in barney singsong) one more time, I might just scream!!!! After about 12 reruns through that episode of Barney's ABCs, she finally let me change it over to Elmo in Grouchland. But I can't leave the room. She's perfectly happy as long as I'm holding her or she's lying next to me. Or if she wakes up and I'm not in sight, it's the end of the world. I say that as I sit here blogging from the rocking chair footstool in her room while she lays on previously mentioned blankets and takes her nap. Needless to say, this is not the most comfortable blogging position in the world. Neither was that bed the most comfortable sleep I have gotten......matter of fact, I woke up rather stiff. All 12 times that I had to get up. LOL.

My wonderful hubby, who took off work this morning in order to attend a permanency planning meeting for the munchkin at social services since circumstances happened which tie me to the house until further notice, had much mercy on me this morning while he was here at the house before the meeting and took the bouncer to school and then came back and started a movie for the munchkin so that I could get a couple of uninterupted minutes of sleep. I feel almost normal now.

I'm contemplating what to fix for supper tonight. It's almost four and the munchkin will probably wake up any minute now (she's been asleep for about thirty minutes this last time) and I'll have to once again try to fix supper with a whiny kid attached to me.

Last night we had an episode with supper. Not from the munchkin, but from the potatoes!! I had the brilliant idea to fix baked potatoes for supper...so at FOUR oclock, I started baking them. According to the handy dandy betty crocker cookbook, potatoes should take 40-60 minutes baked in a 425 degree oven.....wrapped in foil. So I did. One hour later, I pull them out and start to prepare them. They are barely softened at ALL. So I put them in the microwave.

Naturally, I removed the foil first. HA....you were imagining the worst, weren't you? ROFL! Seriously, I have like nightmares about forgetting to take the metal spoon I'm stirring the food with out of the bowl before sticking it in the microwave. I'm paranoid like that.

SO anyways, these are already partially cooked potatoes. And there are only like four of them, so I cook them for the entire baked potato cycle in the microwave....remove them.....sheeeeesh....still not soft all the way. Only now I'm out of time....everything else is either done, or waiting on the potatoes. I'm thinking, how can I rescue this attempt?

In a last ditch effort, I peel the potatoes (which are piping hot, let me tell ya, you'da thunk they'd have been closer to done!) and throw them in a bowl with some butter and sour cream and I mash those babies with the largest fork I have. Then I dump them in a stoneware dish and mix cheese in and put cheese and butter on top and then stick it in the oven. Hopefully by the time the cheese is melted, the potatoes will have finished cooking.

I put supper on the table. Including the potato dish. Which, I must say, at least LOOKED delicious and edible. Anyways, there were no complaints from the picky ones, but those potatoes still didn't taste quite done. The cheese made it palatable though, so I guess it wasn't a complete failure. I was so aggravated though. What was supposed to be a simple dish turned into a 2.5 hour affair. ARGH!

Anywho, I couldn't quite make myself throw it out after supper....after all, there was more than half of it left. I'm wondering if I put it in the oven now, perhaps by suppertime tonight it will be more edible?????? Hmm.....I'm thinking I should have a backup plan if I decide to try that! Hahah!

I do think leftovers will be the fare tonight though. Since I managed to get the munchkin to eat a childsized bowl of chicken noodle soup and about 6 crackers, I feel like a mildly successful mom and I'm hoping that I can get lucky for two meals in a row. I just can't seem to get any liquids down her. I have even resorted to chocolate popsicles just to get something down her. I wonder if she's wised up to my strategy and is refusing drinks just to get the popsicles. LOL. Crazy kid. Well, I have limited the popsicles to only after she's finished her drink or only after she's finished a whole bowl of soup. I have a dreaded feeling that I'm going to run out of popsicles...guess she'll have to go to the fruit ones now. LOL. Note to self: must send KC to get more popsicles....sugar free ones. Teeehehe.

Amazingly enough, she's still asleep. I think this is a record....forty five minutes! I'm going to have to click post before I push my luck. LOL.

For all the time it has been since I posted regularly, maybe sometime I'll get time to catch up, but for now I'm just going to have to say that it was busy and leave it at that and then continue from this point forward. It will make it much simpler on myself and I'll be less likely to procrastinate blogging b/c I don't want to take the time to do catch up. It's my blog...I can make up the rules if I want. hahah.

Anywho....till next time....hopefully tomorrow at the latest!
Later!

The Post Where I Vent To Keep From Killing An Innocent Person

Oh my heavens. I am still hot. And actually, the more time goes by and the more I think about it, the hotter I get.

It doesn't help that I have got a killer headache from taking my medicine late b/c I forgot to take it before we left for church....then on top of that, we didn't have time to stop and get me some caffeine before church.....or like, you know....breakfast, so I was wrestling with the desire to eat the munchkin's snacks during the whole service. Things are somewhat improved now, as I'm enjoying a lovely can of Dr Pepper and took my medicine as soon as we got home, but the headache is taking awhile to go away.

However, in an attempt to be somewhat positive, today has been MARGINALLY better than yesterday. Also, looking over at my wonderful sweet hubby who is currently sandwiched between the very chatty young man who stayed with us last night and the little munchkin who lives with us, I do count my blessings that he is patiently entertaining the two of them without complaint (although when I started to take a picture of the KC sandwich on the loveseat he did stage a loud protest and I immediately gave in, since he is....you know.....entertaining the two of them right now and I'm pretty much home free at this particular moment....LOL).

Okay....I'm going back to my vent now cuz I really need to get this off my chest before I blow up on someone who doesn't deserve it.

I found out around 7 last night that I am teaching the 3-5 year old sunday school class this morning. First off, it is something that I have never done before. I've helped other teachers in the older classes a couple of times, and I regularly work with the pastor's wife to keep the babies-3 entertained during Sunday School (which doesn't involve any kind of lesson except playing kids music and keeping them from killing each other while they play with the baby toys in the nursery), but I've never actually "taught" a Sunday School Class on my own. And we weren't even close to being able to get home so I could pull something together. So I got up this morning and flew around, getting ready, trying to come up with an appropriate lesson for the 3-5 year olds at church, getting the munchkin ready, combing the young man's hair, and trying to keep the two of them out of KC's hair so that he could finish studying for HIS Sunday School lesson which was way more involved (since he teaches the adult sunday school at church).

So I do a desperate, quick yahoo search on sunday school lessons 3-5 year old.

Dear God, thank you, thank you, thank you for making men smart enough to create the wonderful invention called the internet!!! And also, thank you for the incredibly kind people who post sunday school lessons and activities for panicked desperate people like me to use. Amen!

So I found this really interesting lesson on ladybugs. And I love ladybugs. After today, I really love ladybugs. Unfortunately, the lesson plan didn't warn me that it would only take 5 minutes and the coloring page and activity would would bring it up to about 15 minutes, leaving me with 30 minutes to come up with something to do. I could have done the craft, which would have probably taken the rest of the 30 minutes and worked out great, but I didn't have the supplies, I didn't know what the regular teacher kept in the classroom, and I didn't have time to get it all together.

Really, none of that was the problem though. I'm creative. I improvised. We managed.

Here are some of the problems I had with this.

#1 - minor really, but somewhat disturbing: the first thing they wanted was to each have a piece of candy from the candy bucket. Duh? NO!

#2 - another minor, they didn't want to listen to a lesson, they wanted to play with the play doh and raid the prize bucket. Hello! And the aggravating thing is that when I said no, they went ahead and helped themselves. Well, one of them did. The other ones weren't regulars in this class and were clueless like me about the prize bucket. So I took the goodies that the one pulled out of the bucket and divided them between all the kids.

#3 - the most disturbing....and not so much disturbed at the child, but disturbed b/c I know where they're learning these habits. The munchkin was in Sunday School with me this morning. She's three now, so she's going to be in that class, but she's technically not supposed to move until the quarter is up when all the people who have had birthdays that quarter move up to the next class. But I took her with me this Sunday. So we're sitting there in SS and I ask if anyone wants to pray and this one kid says, "can we pray for my brother? Are you her mommy now? Where's her other mommy?"

Ooh I'm getting hot again. She caught me off guard and I wasn't sure how to answer that in front of the munchkin without making it worse. So I look at the munchkin and she has this LOOK on her face. Oh great. She understood the question. I am trying to be nice, so I answer the other kid and say, I'm her mommy, right munchkin? And the munchkin, who normally answers that question with a firm "uh huh!" just looks down at the floor. I look at the other kid and trying to control my frustration, I say okay, let's get back to SS!

Not 15 minutes later after we've talked about ladybugs and how they are helpful and how they save plants by eating the bad bugs and how we should be helpful and nice like ladybugs....we're getting ready to color the ladybug sheets and the kid comes out with the same exact question only more forceful. "Where's her OTHER mommy?" Oh, I was ready to blow! I started to answer nicely and said, "home" and then I decided, no, I'm not taking this. So I said something to the effect of (and still nicely) "That is a rude question. Do you think it's being very ladybug-like to ask questions that hurt other people? That doesn't make people feel very good. We need to be helpful and nice, not rude, and questions like that are rude, okay? It's really none of your business." And then she says "why not?" And I'm like, just color, okay? ARGH!!!!!

Now I realize that children are innocent, but this child's parents are not known for their tact. AND, not only that, but we specifically requested to the entire congregation (including this family) before we ever got any children placed in our home, to please refrain from those exact kind of questions. I should have known. Really. I mean, you can't tell those kids if you're planning a surprise party b/c they will go tell the person who is supposed to be surprised. Yeah, that's happened, too. Some of the other kids have asked us in front of her if she's our FOSTER child, although we specifically requested not to hear THAT question either, but that doesn't bother me QUITE as much b/c she's still too young to understand that term. However, other children who are older that may be placed with us WILL understand that term, so I wish these parents would have this discussion with their kids. If it continues to happen, I will personally talk to the parents myself. It's just SO irritating. UGH!

Okay. The movie that they were watching is over, so I should go now. Oh yeah.....and surprise of all surprises, the munchkin was absolutely enthralled with the movie......which was STAR WARS. AHHHHH.....a girl after daddy's own heart. I must say that I hope this turns into a permanent arrangement!!! And NOT just because she liked Star Wars. Hahaha!

Vent over. I feel better now.

By the way, Public Service Announcement here: if you have children, please have a chat with them about foster children and how much it hurts even the little ones when you ask them painful questions about their REAL moms and dads. Thanks!

Seriously

Do you know this blog is getting very close to being at the 300 posts mark? Sheesh. I talk a lot. (Oh, shut up. I know you knew that already. Quit laughing! Oh, riiiiight.....you're laughing WITH me. Haha.)

Anyways. My poor neglected private blog...it's terribly sad. Faith has been busy lately. Too busy to have any kind of private thoughts. LOL. Oh well. The minute little bit of blog fodder I put over there will have to suffice until I get more "me" time (which will probably be used for other more important things, like shaving my legs or scrapbooking....and the private blog will still suffer....but hey....priorities! LOL).

Punkin is doin well. I feel like a really bad mommy for saying this, but I love, love, love naptime and bedtime. I can actually get something accomplished during those times....sleeping for example. LOL. No really, though, I've been sick for about 4 days now....not counting the 4 days that I felt it coming on....and although I've tried to get other things besides sleep done while she's zonked, the last couple of days I have felt that it would be wisdom to get rest while I can or else I'll not be able to keep up with her. But. I have to say, I'm getting used to this. And the more comfortable I get, the more I like it. Not only that, but like I was telling KC tonight. If I can do this "mommy thing" while hacking up a lung in addition to the whole PMS/being a girl thing, then whenever this junk is gone, it'll be a breeze. Well, not really, I'm sure there will be some other sort of drama to come along, but you know what I mean.

Hang on a sec while I gripe, will ya? I'm really tired of being sick. Tomorrow starts that bi-annual "week of torture" that is also known as the fund-drive at work (okay, so it's not that bad...just tiring) and I really don't have time to spare to make a visit to the doc. And I have a really bad gut feeling that I'm gonna end up there anyways. It wouldn't be so bad, but I'm already missing a lot of that fun comp time stuff because Punkin's daycare is only open for so many hours and if I have to come home in the day to go to the doc, it'll really kill my time. *sigh* My throat is hurting on the left side. Almost reminds me of the strep incident back at the beginning of the year. It goes away, the more advil I take, but after the advil wears off, it comes back. That not good sign. Not to mention all that sinus junk has moved down into my chest (oh, but not completely....I have that raspy 1 9 00 # voice....when it comes out, that is.) Let me tell ya, this is NOT fun. Oh and did I mention that I am having some stomach issues as well? Well. I'll spare you the gory details. Trust me, you don't want to know. I can really deal with all of it except for the sore throat....and I could pass on the stomach trouble as well, but even that I could deal with.....just that sore throat. UGH. It KILLS me. BUT. You'll be proud to know, I sucked it up, have continued life normally, and went to both services at church today. Didn't FEEL like it, but I went. And it was good. Okay, so that was more than a sec of griping, so I'll quit now.

Punkin started calling KC "daddy" on Friday night. I'm not sure where that came from b/c I referred to him up to that point (I don't remember slipping anyways) as KC, not daddy.....but we had got out of the car to run into the grocery store to get some lovely essentials (like bread and milk) and I had got her out of her seat and was getting ready to walk into the store and KC stopped to lock the door and she just hollers out, "Come ON, daddy!" I was like, HUH? Did you hear what she just called you? And now, she still calls me "fafe" every now and then, but generally it's "mommy" and "daddy." Yikes.

It's also getting confusing on what to call the grand-foster parents......She met KC's parents first and soon as she saw them, she called them Ma-maw and Pawpaw. Well, then she met my parents today and she was like Ma-maw! And goes running for the door and then they came in and she was puzzled (although she was fine once she got comfortable with them). So now what to call my parents? Mom is definitely not a "granny" and I really don't see her as a "nanny" either, nor do I see my dad as "gramps". They were called Ma-maw and Pawpaw today but I think that's too confusing for her, so somebody needs a new name. I never had to worry cuz I only had one Pa-paw and my dad's mom was real big on proper names, so she was...or rather...IS....Grandma Lynn....so that was easy to separate. But I can't see my mom as a Grandma ___ or his mom as a Grandma ____, so we've got to figure some kind of nicknames out. Any suggestions? And they need to be easy for a two year old with some speech delays to pronounce. LOL....yeah I know, I don't make it easy! But if anyone has any suggestions, that would be lovely!

Oh well. I have to say this though, I love walking through a store with just me and punkin and out of the corner of my eye, notice a guy checking me out and then looking at her in the cart and MOVIN' ON.....YES! Finally! The solution! Hallelujah!!!!

Let's see....what else. Oh....need to add to the thank you list (which is growing somewhat lengthy....and of course, that's very sweet!)
Big Daddy and Sis KennyG - an adorable denim dress, a different dora fork and spoon set (yay, now maybe I won't have to wash those quite as often....like maybe every OTHER meal now....LOL), a dora kitchen toy set (which she loved and played with during church tonight), some hair clippies (which I hid....cuz Punkin LOVES to play with them and pull them all off the packaging....LOL. If I keep them hidden till I put one or two in her hair, maybe that will lessen the likelihood of them disappearing so soon), and two books. I think that was all that was in there.....there was a lot of stuff, so I might have missed something. But it was very very sweet!
Ma-maw & Pawpaw #1 (did you guys catch that....I hope you're thinking about how to help me solve this dilemma.....oh and no one get offended....that's the order of meeting, not order of importance....both ma-maws & pawpaws are equally important) - pink house slippers and a popup book (both of which have been "loved")
Ma-maw & Pawpaw #2 (come on.....need some help here....did you like how I handled that #1&2 thing? That was sticky......help me out please so I won't get in trouble!) - some duplo lego blocks that have rolling blocks....currently she only has one rolling block, so she'll enjoy the "train"

Hopefully I haven't missed anything. Speaking of missing, right now, I'm missing bedtime...KC has gone without me...so I should go now.

Later, ya'll!

PS Just watched the preview for the new Pirates Of the Carribbean movie.....oooooooh. SWEET! Can't wait for that one to come out. Looks like it has the potential to be quite interesting and humorous. *grin* Okay I'm going now.....

Grumpy Gills

Today I guess I'd be Marlin....cuz I was definitely having some grumpy issues. LOL. Not my usual "Dory" self. I think KC and I did this role exchange cuz he was all cheerful and annoying like I usually am. LOL. Lord, love him. *GRIN* Lord, love me, really. I was the "hard to get along with" one today. *sigh*

I had a lot to do today....a lot of stuff that I really didn't feel like doing. And it wasn't stuff that I could just "put off" like I normally do (hehe) and that just made me irritable.

Anywho....not a whole lot of exciting things to blog about lately. I could say that ____ is ____ again, but I dont particularly want the world (or at least the small part of the world that reads my blog) to know that, so I might blog a little later about that over at the private insanity blog.

Speaking of the small part of the world that reads my blog....i dont think that my lurker from Newark has been back to my blog since I made my myspace private, so apparently, they (whoever they were) either got tired of reading and just hasn't came back, or else they weren't on my friend list so they can't see my profile and get the link anymore. Judging by the regularity of their previous visits, I'd venture to say it was the latter. I wish there was some way on myspace to see the profiles of anybody who looks at your profile....then I'd be able to pinpoint it...maybe. But anyways. Somebody else came here from the myspace link recently from Atlanta. I can't figure this one out. I don't think anyone on my friend list is from Atlanta. Strange.

Watched Flushed Away yesterday. Wasn't real impressed. It was okay. Not really as funny as the previews. Speaking of impress-ionist.....we watched that one, too...the other night.....it was definitely interesting. And definitely fiction. You can't really make yourself disappear like that....can you? ??

Friday night we went out to dinner with some friends (my sorta cousin and his wife, who is also one of the kids I grew up with.....(remember the Down Memory Lane post....the first picture....she's the girl in front of me....and she looks nothing like that now). Anyways, it was fun. We haven't really had a chance to get together since they got married (back in Sept -- VA beach....remember all that? Yeah) Anyways. We had a good time.

Was telling KC about my "how to be annoying post" on Friday and he said when he went to Walmart this morning the cashier had a perfect hook on annoying. So let's just note that in a similar manner as saying ooh la la in every sentence....insert the words: "Rock on" after everything ranging in importance from mild to extreme. And not just saying it, but SAYING it. Like ROCK ooooonnnn...or in the southern...rock awnnn....LOL. Yeah, I can get where that would get irritating. LOL. KC said that he said it at least 3 times to every person checking out. Your credit card was approved...ROCK ONNnnnn! You're buying toilet paper? ROCK Onnnnnn.....BWAHAHAHA. Oooh....definitely pretty high up on the irritation scale. Right up there with driving 50 miles with your turn signal on. LOL.

Well....need to get going here...lovely work tomorrow....not particularly looking forward to it.

Oh in happy news, we *MIGHT* just be able to get charter cable here at the FaithNKC house sometime in the next couple of weeks. KC called yesterday (for the five-hundredth time....no, he's not been a pest at all....LOL. Okay so maybe not five hundred times but he has bugged them about it) and it looks like they're FINALLY going to put it out here. YAY! Not sure yet when it will be, but it sounded like in the next week or so, and KC saw red lines where they came out and marked it. *crossing fingers* I am SO wanting to leave dialup where it belongs....HISTORY!!!!!!

Alright. Going now.
Later, ya'll!

*SIGH*

Awgk.....I survived. I made it through my Tuesday. Thank God for small favors....choir was cancelled, so after the funeral, we came home. It could have been much worse. Could have been better.....dummy me caught the sun in the lens and had a serious flare issue....had to photoshop that set. Duh. Oops.

And the campus-wide "long session of complete boredom"??? Well, it lived up to all expectations. Was kinda funny actually, when everyone went back to their own buildings for the morning session: part three.....which was lockdown drill and bomb threat/fire evacuation drill (part of campus safety)....anyways, so nobody ever notified us that the lockdown drill was over, we just suddenly heard that now we were evacuating.....so i head outside.....thinking that everyone was on their way out....ooops. Good thing it was a drill....three coworkers missed the evacuation notification and were still locked in their respective offices. BWAHahaha. I can laugh....it wouldn't have been funny if it hadn't been a drill, of course. LOL.

Funeral was....slightly depressing....but pretty much what you'd expect at a funeral, I guess. If there's one thing I want, its to live my life so that when it ends, there are no question marks.

Happy thoughts, happy thoughts. I'd gripe about the fact that my stomach is very unsettled, but thats an unhappy thought, too. LOL. Trying to get away from that. I'm going to watch Cheaper by the Dozen II now....that movie is full of funny happy-thought creating moments..........

I'm gone for now.

Christmas Vacation Day 2

I LOVE being off work. The best part of it is I don't have to go back until next year. HA!

Anyways, our anniversary was sweet. KC got home around 1:30 yesterday and then we went to Hickory to eat at the Olive Garden. Our first choice was the Outback, but they didn't open until 4:30 and we got up there at 3:30 and we were hungry. But the second choice was still yummy. I had Fettucini Alfredo and KC had Chicken Parmesan and was it ever yum-o. I was this close to giving in to the pepper craving though....I wanted a Dr Pepper SOO bad. I didn't though....had rasberry lemonade....which was absolutely awesome. Our waitress even offered to give us to go cups when we were leaving....thats rare.

So while we were eating....get this. I almost got my wish....the phone rang. It said "restricted call" (which the only person that ever rings on the ID as Restricted is KC's mom)....so we didn't answer it. (no offense, mom...LOL) But anywho....then about 2 minutes later it rang again...same thing. KC was like LEAVE A MESSAGE already. No message. About 2 minutes later....again. KC was like FINE. This better be an emergency (LOL) and answers the phone. Oops....its our social worker. Of all days. She must be on the same phone company as KC's mom....so now we'll have to answer all our "restricted" calls. SO....KC is talking a few minutes and uh-huh-ing a lot....and then he says, here, I'll let you talk to Faith....so I take the phone. SW says, we've got a {under 4} yr old little boy that is currently already in foster care, but his foster mom may need someone to watch him tomorrow and possibly tonight b/c she has to be at work early, would you be interested? I'm like um....tonight? Um......okay....I think we could probably work something out. {I'm thinking....why TONIGHT? Its our anniversary and we've kinda got plans....LOL. But sure...okay.} So she says, okay, I'll call her social worker back and have her call you with the details. So a few minutes later, the phone rings and I pick up and its the foster mom's social worker. The little boy is sick, the mom picked him up from daycare and is on her way to the dr now and if he's cleared to go back to daycare, we won't need to keep him, but if the daycare won't take him, he'll need somewhere to stay while his foster mom is at work. Okay, not a problem. She gives me foster mom's phone number and tells me to call her a little later to find out if the little boy will be able to go back to daycare. Okay then. Guess that means we're now on the licensed home list.....pardon me a moment while I panic. Haha. Okay I'm better now. So its probably terrible of us, but we were both praying that the little boy would be fine and that he'd be able to go back to daycare. LOL. Now if the situation had been different, we wouldn't have felt that way, but a one night on THAT particular night....well....it wasn't quite what we had planned. But we'd have still done it....we're gonna have to get used to changing our plans sometime. But still....I was kinda glad when I talked to the foster mom and the little boy was fine and going back to daycare.

So once we were finished eating we went to the mall to pick out our anniversary present.....we had already decided to get a new watch for both of us so we looked at Dillards, Sears, and finally found what we wanted at Penney's.

anniversary watches
the funny thing is that I had picked out the one I liked and he had picked out the one he liked and when we tried them on we realized that they were very similar watches. LOL. Great minds think alike....LOL. ooh...thats kinda skary though. LOL.

Anyways, we had a couple other loose ends to tie up for Christmas stuff so we took care of that and then headed back to the house...oh yeah, stopped on the way home and rented Cars....that was pretty good. Got Lady in the Water or something like that to watch tonight...I'll let ya know how that one is. =)

SO that was pretty much our anniversary. *sigh* now we're going on six years. yow.

Not much else going on....I've been attempting to get a self-portrait b/c in my 23 years, I keep trying...and have yet been successful in my goal to get a decent picture. *sigh* Sometimes I seem to get closer than others....but its hard to work on both sides of the camera...not to mention what I got to work with....*sigh* Which is not a lot in case you were wondering. Oh well....so here's my three latest attempts...

selfportrait2

#1 probably the best one from a lighting standpoint, but its not really me. *sigh* oh well.

#2 ugh....KC took this one....I cheese too much when I'm smiling at him. LOL

selfportrait
#3 this one probably looks the most like me, but this was the bathroom mirror and the lighting is definitely lacking. *sigh*
Oh well. *SIGH* Guess I'm off for now...need to clean house. *grin* Such fun.
Later!
PS I'm about THIS close to finishing my Christmas shopping...am I the only one out there that hates the little signs up that say 3 shopping days left to Christmas???

Ugh

Have I mentioned lately how incredibly irritating dialup is??? Well, in case I haven't....IT IS! GRRRRRR.

Today's random ponderings:
Watched bicentennial man today and that is a really sad movie. *sigh* I do not like movies that make me think about my own mortality. One day I'm going to be old and going to friends funerals and knowing that mine will probably happen soon....(unless of course I die young, which isn't exactly a nice thought either since I'd like to enjoy life a little longer)...and looking in the mirror, I'm going to wish I still looked good enough to get hit on even though it really irritates me now, not to mention the thoughts of sitting in some home somewhere, looking out the window, wishing I could go out and play a game of tennis or go rollerblading just one more time before I died and knowing that my body wouldn't ever be young enough to do it again...its very depressing. I mean, if I live to be 70, I've already used up almost a third of my life and what good has it been? I wish I could stop time now. Chances are, this is the best part of my life and its flying by.....ugh. too depressing.

Oh yeah...a happy note....KC is home now. YAY! He got home yesterday afternoon. I was...and still am SO happy that he's back. I actually slept good last night for the first time since Sunday night. Sweet.

Today we went to Carowinds for the company picnic where KC works. That was....interesting. LOL. He works with a lot of nice people. However, I thought I was going to die when one of the nice people said he liked this blog....oh my heavens....it always flips me out to find out that people I know sometimes read this. YIKES. I mean, its a public blog, so anyone can see it, but I never imagined people who know me in real life might be interested enough to check it out. *grin* Anyways, KC was apparently bragging about my pictures (he's very sweet like that) and opened my blog to show the nice people he works with. Speaking of the photography...I need to get busy again and post some new pictures over there...I've been quite lazy lately....oops...digressing again. Back to the topic of Carowinds....it was totally crowded and there were long lines even for the crummy rides....that was aggravating. So we just picked the rides that we REALLY wanted to ride and waited...and waited...*Sigh* I hate lines. Favorite ride: DropZone (as usual) 2nd favorite: Top gun (also as usual) one we didn't ride b/c the line was wayyy too long: the borg. And that about sums it up.

So I finally got a myspace page (although I tried searching for myself and i'm not found, but I have public profile....its strange)...not that I'm going to use it for anything besides chatting with friends...I can't believe how many people I KNOW on there. Kinda crazy....but anyways....I'm happy with my blog here and I do good to keep one going, so I'm not even going to attempt to blog in more than one place. ROFL. Its kinda bad already b/c I will blog all this stuff on here and then I'll go to tell somebody something and they'll say...oh, yeah...I knew that already....now my conversations with friends and family that check up on me here regularly starts out like this: have you read my blog lately? Okay then....let me tell you about what happened....or....Okay then....never mind. ROFL.

*sigh*

Okay...nuff rambling for one night. I'm seriously tired and I want to go to bed.

Later.
