Positively Painful

Still not doing so hot at the blogging thing but I didn't get any backlash from my last rant, so I guess it's safe enough to come back and do it again. I'm also not doing so hot at being positive but I'm trying.

Shut up, Yoda...I know there is only do or do not. I don't care. Hahah.

We got a new dog...just one. She's not Obi and Ahsoka but she's sweet. She's an adult rescue named Rosie and she sheds more than our last two put together! Sheesh. LOL Lucky for me (and her) that KC didn't know she was going to shed that much when we rescued her or he would have never said yes to getting her! Hahaha! Now we're all attached, so she's staying, fur and all. LOL. We also got a black cat...it was supposed to be KC's cat, but it loves the dog, who is glued to me, therefore it has kinda ended up as my cat even though it missed the memo where I'm not the cat person in this house! I've nearly choked him several times...he really likes to climb all over us and meow and wake up the dog at 4am....and I'm pretty fond of sleeping at 4am...which is not the greatest combo. But other than that, he's not too bad. Haha!

In other news, we got the Rona for my birthday...worst gift ever. Still dragging from that, although the worst part of it was just fatigue...kind of felt like having Mono again. It caused a hiccup in my cleaning job because that job requires a ton of energy and at this point (4 weeks later) I still barely have enough energy to clean my own house! But I've been able to go back to my other part time job that isn't as energy draining as the cleaning.

The TDQ is driving now. She finally got enough saved to get a little older model car. Hopefully it will not get wrecked but I've rode with her a couple of times so far, and it will be a miracle if it looks as good as it does now by the time she gets done with it. I can't relate to her struggle...she can barely maneuver the car into an angled parking space...I was backing my parent's minivan out of the carport and pulling it up the driveway to the house for them when I was 11....kids these days. *insert eye roll* At least she has worked her butt off and put effort toward getting it. I'm trying to be patient and not freak out or get too annoyed with her latest obsession. LOL

It is so hard sometimes. Patience is tough. Drat it. Teenagers will suck all the patience and goodness right out of you! I don't know how people do it. Two lousy teenagers and it's killing me...these people with a gazillion kids absolutely amaze me. How do they have that many teenagers and cheerfully survive? I must be doing something wrong.

Anywho...then I got volun-told into doing the youth activities at one of the campmeetings I'm planning to attend this summer in NC...and then I volunteered to take like 13 of our youth girls from church here to the camp there in NC....evidently I'm just a glutton for punishment. Hah! On that high note, I'm out.

Might make it back sometime. LOL

Cranky Pants

Blast it. I am in a fine, feathered mood. Clearly, it's not been a mood for blogging...as I have been absent for what feels like decades.

2020 is getting on my last nerve. This year is so not my favorite. I was working on Christmas cards and I usually put a family update on the back for anyone who cares to know what we've been up to each year. This year I wrote about three sentences and then scratched off the idea of an update.

No one wants to be depressed like that. Our senior dogs got sick and crossed the rainbow bridge this year. I've cried for months. No way to put a positive spin on that. Stinkin' virus shut-downs and quarantines delivered way too much time stuck at home with the terrible teens. Nope, that doesn't sound very nice. I am now working several part time jobs just to get out of my house and away from previously mentioned beings. Yeah, that's bad...oops. I feel like one of the rare few that disagrees with the logic of mask mandates...for multiple reasons, and yet I'm outnumbered even in my own house....which makes me question my own sanity. Am I really the crazy one? Don't want to talk about that. Politics...well that's really gone bonkers this year. Definitely better leave THAT alone.

Sufferin' succotash.

Also...I jumped off the "quit drinking soda" wagon. Three years of separation between me and my beloved Dr. Pepper. No more of that mess...we best buddies again. I'm literally a pepperholic. Hi, my name is Faith...

Anyway, this year's Christmas update consists of our new address and best wishes for a huge improvement of events in 2021. Best I could do. I'm a glowing ray of sunshine these days...NOT. I probably shouldn't blog either, but since the blog has been virtually abandoned and no one will see it, it feels like a fairly safe place to vent a bit of my cranky pant frustration.

Lord help. I need it.

Patience

A virtue of which I am evidently lacking. Otherwise, I don’t think mine would be tested quite this often.

Life in the basement is getting to me. Actually, it’s not the basement at all. It’s the under 18 people that occupy said basement with me. This basement isn’t big enough for that. I don’t know how previous generations survived to adulthood living in much smaller houses with much larger families. Seriously!

Anyway, KC told me to find a hobby, so I’ve dragged out and re-subscribed to the ol Photoshop, and today I was blissfully engaged in redesigning a friend’s blog for practice. Oh my goodness. SO FUN! Made me want to redesign mine even though I like how it is now. HAHA. At the very least though, I’ve got to get back to blogging. I put it back on my habit tracker in my bullet journal in hopes that it will inspire me to do it more often. LOL.

I like how my long abandonment has led to zero site traffic here. I am way more comfortable spilling my guts. Okay, not entirely. My personality doesn’t allow me to be entirely comfortable with that. Hahah.

I’ll wrap up this post with a Thursday Thirteen, I haven’t done one of THOSE in forever!

Thirteen Current Things:
1. Praying for: a house
2. Listening to: the dog breathing, my in-laws conversing upstairs (can’t hear the conversation, just the murmur of voices), K-man’s music from the back corner of the basement (again, can’t hear clearly, just enough to be annoying – like everything he does these days)
3. Reading: Misleading Miss Verity by Carolyn Miller
4. Eating: too much junk food (I’m definitely eating my feelings…I should probably add that to the things I need to pray about)
5. Working on: A Little Bit of Insulin
6. Missing: the hubby (he’s traveling for work *sigh*)
7. Wishing for: a bigger kitchen
8. Needing: A bigger house (see a theme?)
9. Singing: Blessings by Laura Story
10. Digging: my amazing hair products that knock shampoo days down to 2-3 times a week (usually 2…I LOVE IT)
11. Watching: realtor.com like it’s the hottest reality show…seriously…I check it like every 20 minutes. *eye roll* reality is, it’s more like watching paint dry than an exciting tv show, but I can’t stop myself. lol
12. Playing: Toy Blast and Scrabble
13. Need to Stop: worrying =)

So what’s on your list?

Adulting Angst

angst

/äNG(k)st/

noun

a feeling of deep anxiety or dread, typically an unfocused one about the human condition or the state of the world in general.

…

Really I just wanted to use this word today. LOL.

HOWEVER….

I feel like it might be a fitting word for my life right now….the overwhelming-ness of life is getting under my skin.

Life is good. I’m not complaining. But I would positively love it if the to-do list would stop multiplying and burying me in self-imposed guilt when I can’t get everything done.

Grr.

Adulting stinks.

In Regards To Last Post

The answer is: Not well. That’s how it goes. Both in blogging regularity AND in the poor neglected header situation. I guess I’ll just keep this header for awhile longer. LOL. Besides all that, the family was cuter then than now, so we’ll just stick with that. Pretend it says 2017.

It is winter. I think. We spent two weeks in Florida in February, and I wore flipflops and shorts and loved every minute. Then we came home to early spring, and I wore long sleeves but no coat….

Suddenly, it’s the artic and even a coat isn’t warm enough. WHERE IS SUMMER?

Or at least spring!? Also, while I’m ranting, homeschooling my angry child is really difficult. I am SO ready to quit. But I can’t.

Fun times!

I need to be like this lettuce in my garden. Photo taken at this very moment of blogging.
WIN_20170315_13_52_13_Pro

It came up on its own. It’s somehow survived 2 snows, several frosty mornings, and quite a few days where the high temperatures have barely been above freezing. It’s defying the odds, while still tasting lovely and looking beautifully fresh.

*deep breath*

Be happy and sweet despite getting constant cold shoulders er…weather.

Be like lettuce. (or at least like THIS lettuce!)

Angry Birds

So I’m looking for something to practice the Illustrator Pen Tool on….and this bird just fit my mood. This is my rendition of a pixelated little graphic I found on the internets.

penguintrace

Not that I’m angry, exactly…just in a bit of a mood.

The original had a bit more depth of shadow in it, but I mostly wanted to practice the pen and outlines.

As far as mood…sometimes it feels like I take two steps forward and get shoved twelve steps back…sometimes that gets aggravating. S’all right though. Still blessed. *takes a deep breath* Sometimes trying to stay positive gets aggravating, too!

Tomorrow K-man gets to have his first Orthodontist visit. I thought we were going to get by without anybody needing braces…but nope. He’s nervous and not thrilled, but the dentist said his bite is really off, so we gotta do it.

Homeschooling is keeping me hopping like a frog. Maybe that will be my next practice with the pen tool…a froggy clip art. ahahaha. The kids are doing pretty well with it, but it is a LOT of work and takes LOTS of patience. I’m not complaining though, the flexibility and convenience is amazing! =)

Anyways, I’m taking my grouchy little birdy self off the computer now…need to get ready for bed.

Friday Frustrations

Oh my word. It is so annoying to sit in class and hear people chatting while the teacher is teaching. I care not if people aren’t paying attention, but it’s just annoying to listen to people talking out loud (even though it’s quietly) in addition to the instructor’s voice.

I do pretty well with the “if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all” policy, I haven’t said anything…or even made any faces, but sometimes I just need to vent out my Friday Frustrations.

Mondays used to be my one dreaded day of the week, but this semester, it’s definitely Fridays. Class seems to be much more focused today, which is great. But it’s still business of photography, which is all slightly less interesting to me than the art of photography.

12829304_10208498588844881_3292342621717231347_o

So this past Sunday, we hiked up a local mountain. It was a lot of fun…around 6 something miles of fun. And the view from the top was cool!

But a couple of days later, I have some kind of contact dermatitis. On both arms. And I don’t think I touched anything at all while we were hiking. The trail was pretty wide, so it wasn’t like branches were hitting my as I passed or anything.

Frustrating. So now, I’m having to find a family doctor who can see me and give me something for it. I’ve evidently not been to the family doctor in 3 years, so I’m off their records. Sheesh.

Then, the PTDQ tossed her cookies at school, so my sweet hubby picked her up. Thank heavens for my fantastic hubby being home working this week so I don’t get an absent from class.

And I’ve also apparently developed seasonal allergies. OH MY STARS.

Last night we moved the bed and removed one giant pile of allergens (also known as the rug that kept my tootsies warm when that dreadful time of morning arrived and I was forced out of my bed). I’m pretty sure all that dust and dander flying around when we cleaned up the area made my allergies much worse because today the coughing and sinus drainage are killer. Blech.

So there’s my Friday Frustrations for this week. Now I need to go edit some pictures and do some work on my photo sites. This semester is whooping my tail. Can’t wait for graduation!

Hope your Friday is more of a Friday and less of a Monday!

Rabbit Trails

OH my STARS. I am the first person on board with random. I LOVE random. But there’s a time to be focused. Like in class. I just had to listen to half an hour of ghost stories because someone showed a picture they took of an old house.

Rabbit trails. This is driving me nuts!

Plus somebody brought a friend to class and they won’t stop talking. Number one, people who aren’t registered for class aren’t supposed to be in the classrooms during class times. Number two, if somebody DOES need to be in the classroom, they shouldn’t sit in the front row and talk the whole time. ANNOYING! Especially since they’re right beside me in the front row.

And while I’m griping, it completely grosses me out when I go into the bathroom and a person exits the stall and then the bathroom without washing their hands. EW! That happens all the time here at school. No wonder all these people are always getting sick. Cooties! That’s why we have soap and water, people!

Okay, I think I’m done ranting for now. Break time is almost finished.

Also, I know I’m really bad about going down rabbit trails myself, but at least blog readers have the option of clicking away…I can’t exactly go anywhere until the next break. *sigh*

In Which She Apologizes

Oh my word…have I ever been absent….

Absent minded as usual, but also absent from posting here for awhile. I got online to blog like 5 different times and then got totally distracted and got busy doing other things on the computer.

Things like…dreaming of vacations and googling crazy things I found on pinterest that will likely never happen in reality….

1422222109

1426435624

Like for instance, getting a $900-$2100 rooftop tent to put on our truck to go camping in….never gonna happen.

BUT LOOK HOW COOL!

I never even knew such a thing existed!!! Crazy, right?

Wanna see something even funnier? It’s a double never gonna happen….a mini cooper with a rooftop tent….but how funny!

rooftop-tent

In my adventurous other life, I’d totally do something like this and road-trip all summer long.

That would be so fun! But ah well…dreaming is fun, too. It just makes it difficult to get blogs posted. Hahah.

Other things keeping me busy:

English: Terribly disgusting business, that grammar stuff. On the bright side though, the teacher is allowing us to work at our own pace, which means I’ve already finished all but the last unit plus the final exam…and the class isn’t supposed to end until July 20-something. I wanted to get the entire thing including the last unit (which is a horrible research paper) finished before the kids get out of school this week, but I’m going to have to settle because I’m not going to have the time to finish that unit this week. It requires some pretty heavy thought and research (How does globalization affect photography?), and I can’t do any more this week. Some people are brilliant at this stuff, but even these comparatively lightweight assignments just kill me!

Summer planning: OH my word…the kids are swimming again this year, plus taikwando, plus band camp for my rising middle schooler (GASP…MIDDLE SCHOOLER!), plus basketball camp for my rising 4th grader, plus hopefully a vacation somewhere in there, plus mission team work week, plus photographing an event, plus….well, there’s the idea anyway.

Home maintenance and gardening: Well, that pretty much says it all, but to be more specific, we finally finished the destruction, cleaning, painting, and re-screening of the screen porch. Besides that, the basement clean-out, while slower than before, has still continued. We tore down the old mailbox (a job and a half) and replaced that, and added a nice little flower bed around it. It’s adorable. Then there’s the garden…it’s growing splendiforously, but has yet to produce anything major. Just a bit of lettuce so far, and a small crop of basil. The stinkin’ cuke plant has climbed its stick teepee and is almost taller than the house now, but still only has flower blooms…no cukes. Is there such a thing as too much fertilizer?

Back to the basil, the most wonderful herb ever invented. I have a little food processor now. I found it at TJ Maxx on clearance for $10. Best $10 I’ve ever spent. I’ve made homemade pesto 3 or 4 times now I think. It’s fantastico! I adore homemade pesto. Did I say ADORE? YES. SOOOOO good. Not even kidding. I got the general recipe from pinterest (of course) but I always add or leave out stuff, so it’s never exactly the same…but always brilliantly yummy!

Also in the subject of brilliant inventions: CONTACTS! YES! I finally have eye insurance, so I went back to get the contact fitting. Three samples and lots of trying again and again to put in and remove said contacts without stabbing my eyes out…I am a happy contact wearer! I love seeing without having to wear glasses!

So yeah. I’ve been a busy little beaver. Because you see, everything above is just the tiny tip of a huge Titanic sized iceberg.

That’s just a few little things. I haven’t even gone into half the stuff that goes on in my poor little absent minded brain.

I would apologize for that, but I think that deserves a “you’re welcome” instead! LOL

So I’m sorry for being gone so long, but you’re welcome for not un-loading all my crazy. ;-)

Have a lovely day…night…daynightdaynight….or however long it is until I make another appearance. =)

Hallelujah!!! (with a small side of Bummer)

So for starters…last night I had the normal kind of crazy dreams. You know, your everyday, basic, “the Russian’s are coming,” I’m eating apples in a tree house with some random kid from your childhood while someone you used to work with is mowing the grass, and I’m going to be late for something but I haven’t figured out what….kind of crazy dream.

No, I didn’t have that dream last night….it’s actually a compilation of several crazy dreams I (or someone I’ve known---hello KC’s Mom) has had, but it’s an example of the kind of dream I had last night.

COMPLETELY a welcome change from the, Oh My WORD, my heart is breaking, I can’t escape from this horrifying nightmare because it just keeps coming back in new ways, and I wake up exhausted even though I know it was just a dream, kind of dreams I’ve been having.

Yep. So hallelujah! Hopefully it is a trend that will continue. =)

Also another little hallelujah, I HAVE WINDOWS LIVE WRITER AGAIN! Blogging on my phone (while functional), just didn’t have the same ease of use!

And now for the small side of bummer…I noticed a class meeting today (in which a college BigWig, a cop, students, and our department instructors attended), and afterwards, heard from one of our friends in that class….Mr. Shows Up Late with Half-baked Work Who Threatened Students & Instructor…..

a. is going to be allowed to come back
b. will be searched before entering campus before every class
c. is required to be on time for all future classes (oh, duh, and here I thought that was the requirement all along!~)
d. is not allowed to threaten or verbally abuse any other students (again…a given, right?)

LIKE OH MY WORD!

Yeah, and I looked him up on the Public Records…it’s not hearsay that he is out on prob/parole. Sheesh! If I missed half as many days and came in late half as many times, I’d have already been kicked out of the program….without even threatening anyone! It’s unbelievable that he’s going to get to stay in the program (even on a probabationary status!) Mercy is great…free passes that infringe on everyone else’s rights are not.

Okay, it’s a LARGE side of Bummer.

Anyway, a short list of other recent work:

  • designing for a bloggy friend some of you may know
  • my semester project piece (which had to be inspired by the historical photographer we researched and wrote our paper about…I used this image by Hansel Mieth as my inspiration)DogOnMyBed (1 of 1)
  • and my inadvertent photo pun….from my advertisement project. Get it? Film ad…photo lab? LOL. Totally unintentional, but I went with it. =) I love my beautiful puppies. =)davis_magazine

There’s obviously way more I could talk about (it happens when one avoids blogging), but I’ll quit there and go find me some lunch.

Have a very, VERY lovely day. =)

Moody Blues

Argh. I am all out of sorts today and nothing is helping. The kids are not helping. Crazy people are definitely not helping. I am so grouchy and it feels like a baby elephant is sitting on my chest, which makes me even more irritable.

Therefore, I blog. Probably not the smartest idea I've ever had, but I don't feel like ironing or doing laundry or cleaning house, so here I am.

My problem is, I never know who might ever be reading this, so I hate to gripe about the certain people who make me mad on a regular basis because I would feel bad if they ever read it and way down deep inside, I really am a nice person and wouldn't want to hurt anyone's feelings.

However, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and bet that there's a few who will never stumble across this, and if they do, they can be like what's her face in The Help and deny that the story is about them. So I'm gonna rant for a few seconds and let the grumpy fly.

I get that people are at different levels of learning, but it bugs the fire out of me when people are lazy idiots and think they're geniuses that everyone should bend over backwards to accommodate. One of my friends and I were working on a sweep in the school studio...an open sweep...no one had signed up for it. But this person wanted it. Dude, no one signed up for it and we were there first. Get over it. I don't know everything, for sure, but if I ask to butt into someone else's studio space and time, I'm gonna do my best to not just be a taker. Then to top it all off, the person had the nerve to ask if they could use my cologne bottle that I brought in to use for my advertisement project--for their advertisement....in the same class. Are you kidding me? If you don't have your own bottle to use for the ad, make it an ad about the clothing the model is wearing. Make it an ad for shaving cream. Make it an ad for anything! Seriously, there's thousands of ideas without using the cologne bottle I just shot. Except that would be work. I almost forgot. I don't even care that you are going to do an ad for the same cologne as I'm doing....but for Pete's sake, get your own bottle!

Ok, I'll stop now. That was just one of the little things that set me off today. Most of the other things weren't quite as easily definable. A third grader with a clearly definable 8's times table who is determined to push my every last button, however, isn't one of the undefinable things. Grrrr.

Also, I just want to eat lots and lots of junk food and I'm trying to resist and it's making me very hangry. That's angry hungry for anyone who hasn't seen the ecard on pinterest.

Now I said I'd quit so I better leave before this venting gets too out of control.

And i know I'm supposed to finish blogging about the imaging conference, but I don't know if I'll get back around to it or not. I'm so over school this semester. I don't know how I'm going to get through another three semesters. *sigh*

Yes yes I'm leaving now. :/ deep breaths....it will all be okay.

.....right????

Figures

Uhmmm…I think you had it right in your comment, Ryan…my last post SHOULD have been “Ugh, BLEACH, and Ew.” Lol. I obviously didn’t do my part on the bleach.

Little dude recovered…I thought we were safe. But no….today he didn’t sound quite right when he was reading and his throat sounded a little swollen. So I took him to the doc just to be on the safe side…

Strep.

Nice.

He has impeccable timing. The only days he gets sick are the on the THREE days a week when I have class. Four other days to get sick on, so that I can stay home and keep him from infecting anyone else, but those four days just don’t work for him. UGH.

And my throat doesn’t feel right tonight either…whatcha wanna bet he gave it to me and I’ll come down with it in a couple of days…on my next class day.

Pardon my little vent and whine…just needed to get that off my chest.

I think I might put myself to bed right after I tuck the kids in bed in about 20 minutes. I really might. =//

*sigh*

Ugh, Blech, and EW

This was NOT in my plans for today. I think it’s a conspiracy....between the dogs, the cat, and the boy-child, I've cleaned up 9+ puke/hairball/backside excretions that didn't make it to the appropriate receptacles, listened to the lovely sounds of upchucks at least seven times, and had to endure the smell for at least an hour total between the occurrences and the cleanups...and that's just in the last 8 hours.

Conspiracy is working...I feel very queasy.

No fever, no signs of sickness (other than incessant vomiting), and everything was just fine last night…until like 1:30am.

And then it was on like Donkey Kong. All at once.

And go figures that KC would be out of town and miss all this fun. I just hope he doesn’t bring back another plague like the last time he came home from a business trip. He and I and K-man were out for days with that one. The Munchkin keeps getting passed over in the sicknesses…I told her she was just too ornery to get sick. Lucky dog…I’m going to have to up my own ornery-ness. LOL.

And there’s your super lovely peek at what’s going on in my world today. Now I have to go see if I can get online and work on any of my schoolwork from home since I had to miss class today. =(

Also laundry. Lots and lots of laundry. =/

Whoa

Wow, the things I could say tonight…if I had energy to stay awake. This is the first day my computer has been opened in like…over a week, I think.

That is highly unusual, to say the least. I’ve just been a wee bit exhausted (as I am right now) and haven’t had the energy to find my computer and plug it up and open it. I’m not sure where I found the energy tonight, but I figured since it was open, I’d post a quick update.

The update is:

Our three month rental ended.

The house we bought didn’t get finished with renovating. We moved in last week anyway.

This picture is a small sample of life in our house at the moment:

2013-11-06 18.22.44

I have no countertops, no finished cabinets to unpack anything into, no wall cabinets. But I only have one dirty utensil from supper. There are small benefits to not having a working kitchen. LOL…great excuse not to cook. Although, three months (going on four) of my kitchen packed in boxes, I’m actually looking forward to cooking again. I hope I remember how! LOL

Painting is my life story these days. Some day in the VERY near future (I hope), I will be back to share before and after photos! =)

There are so many other things also in my head right now but I have no energy to get them out. Goodnight. =)

Monday, April 22, 2013

Mmm Hmmm.

I’m thankful for all the clothing that we are blessed with…even if seems like half of it is in the laundry pile and the other half is on the ironing pile.

I’m thankful for a washing machine…even if it does leak at random and inopportune times.

I’m thankful for the opportunity to go to school and to learn new things…even if I have homework due that doesn’t seem to be getting done the way it should be.

I’m thankful that EGR’s skipped class today…even if they haven’t dropped out completely or left me alone like I wish they would.

I’m thankful for my kids…even though they’re driving me insane….or MORE insane, to be precise.

I’m thankful they’re outside halfway getting along at the moment…even though that seems like a strange occurrence these days. LOL

I’m thankful my legs can run…even though running is awfully tough.

I’m thankful for being so blessed…even when miniscule frustrations are boiling under the surface.

I’m thankful for my blog to vent miniscule frustrations…even though I don’t get here as often as I’d like these days.

And now…the kids are yelling for me again, and the iron is heated up and ready to go again, and the washer needs to be checked, and the…..

Holy Macaroni–Part 2

Well, I’m back. Took me longer than I expected, but here I am. =) I feel like I need to wash my ears out…those “extra grace required” individuals didn’t drop out of class like I thought they did a few weeks ago. Last class, I made the mistake of being too transparent and letting a “look” cross my face for just a second, and when I was asked about it, I just asked if they knew any other words. Bad idea sometimes, to say what you’re thinking. So today, they came in with an agenda. I went in with my poker face and ignored all of their rudeness, but ew... I have a pretty high tolerance for a lot of things that I don’t agree with, but when every sentence for an entire hour contains more vulgar words than the point words of the sentence, it’s way over the top. UGH. I could say so much more, but I don’t want to sound like I’m being all judgmental, because I’m not. Anyway.

Back to where I left off the other day.

Okay, so I forgot to mention that the brackets DID go back up on the wall with no problems and seem to be as sturdy as ever. (Thank the Lord for the little things, right?!)  And then when I got back from painting at my friends house, I took a 20 minute siesta before jumping back into the pile of closet junk. Late nights and early mornings just caught up with me. LOL.

Went through all the closet stuff and reorganized it all…got rid of some junk…had to re-iron all of KC’s shirts that had gotten wrinkled in the bathtub (oops), hung everything back up…wowza….it was a job.

And yes, I was anal and color coded the hangers. Some of the clothes may have also been hung back in shades from light to dark. lololol

2013-03-20 14.12.382013-03-20 14.13.20

As much as I tried to have it all finished Tuesday night, I didn’t get it all done until right before KC got home on Wednesday. I had to stop working on the closet about 8pm Tuesday night because I had to get my neglected homework finished before Wednesday morning’s class, but by the time I finished my homework, it was nearly midnight again. Then I had to get up early so I could go into the school early to finish working on my paper before class. It’s not due for another week, but I knew I was going to be missing class today because Munchkin was getting a good citizen award at school, and my instructor is out on Monday, and then the next class my essay will be due, so I wanted to have it close enough to done that I could run it past the instructor and make sure I had enough time to make any major changes if necessary before it was due.

Thankfully, it’s pretty close to good enough, so I just have to make a few minor changes and collect/print all the source pages and drafts to turn in. *whew*

I’m probably a nerd, but I actually like school and learning, even if some of it is stuff I already knew a little about…lol. I could totally do without the EGR people but I guess that comes with the territory anytime you’re dealing with the public. Ah well.

Now…I have an hour before the kiddos get off the bus, so I’m gonna take another little siesta. I worked my tail off at the beginning of the week, so I’m rewarding myself now. =) =) lol

Bummed

This:

Is the last photo taken with my lovely little phone.

And unless whoever stole it gets an attack of conscience, and turns it in to lost and found…it will remain the last photo taken with my lovely little phone.

I am SOO bummed. Nothing like a little theft to make you feel violated. The nice manager at T-mobile locked the stolen phone so that even I can’t use it (IF I were to find it) without taking it in to the store and having the lock removed. They also said that the top places for phones to be stolen are school and bars and that most of the time, they’re stolen for the phone, not for the information in it, so chances are, everything I care about is safe, but it’s just the thought.

I’m really not even sure when it disappeared because I had it while I was waiting for my second class, and when it was time to go into the second class, I’m almost sure that I double-checked the bench behind me when I got up, before I went into class, and that nothing was left laying there. I realized it was gone about halfway through the class, so I must have left it on the bench right outside the class no longer than 30 minutes…but if I didn’t leave it on the bench, then someone snitched it right under my nose in class, which is an equally awful theory. Whatever the case, I had it before class, and in less than an hour I was minus a phone.

In my favor, it was the class day that was just working on sketchbooks, not lecture, so I was able to get up and look for it immediately, and then when I couldn’t find it, the instructor said it was fine to leave early. I even borrowed a phone to call it, and it went straight to voicemail, so it was obviously turned off after it was picked up, which supports the theory that it was stolen simply for a phone to resell, not for anything on the phone.

Or else (conspiracy theory here), someone in my class hates my guts for some reason and stole it and then turned it off so when I tried to call it, it wouldn’t alert me to the fact that it was buzzing in their pocket…hopefully THAT isn’t the case (although I won’t lie, it did cross my mind—obviously, or I wouldn’t have mentioned it, right?! LOL)

So the missing phone is hopefully locked tight and I have a loaner phone with my same number until I decide what to do about another phone. I figure I’ll give it the weekend to see if it gets turned into lost and found when they realize it can’t be used, and if it doesn’t, I’ll just turn it in on my insurance (which is the other bright thing – I didn’t remember getting the insurance on the phone, but I guess it’s a good thing I did!) and get a replacement.

I’ve changed all my passwords and kicked my mobile phone off of all the apps connected to it, so hopefully if there was a chance that it was stolen for info, they won’t get any. I’m just bummed because all the pics I had on there are gone and I lost all my contact numbers…I think everything else was replaceable.

GRRRR. Just needed to vent. Anyway, I have no phone numbers now, so if no one hears from me for a long time….that could be why. I’m on a loaner phone at the moment, and it’s got my number in it, so I can get texts, but I’m not going to know who you are if you do text me (unless you tell me…lol), and I won’t be able to keep the info. *sigh*

Kind of a stinky day. I’m hoping it gets better. =/  If not, I may have to hit the bottle AGAIN. =)

Monday Aftermath

Sometimes Monday just doesn’t do a good enough job on Monday, so it rolls on over to Tuesday.

I try to be a positive person (which sometimes means that I don’t say much about a lot of things) but today has been another Monday all over again.

I know Monday is just a day of the week.  It’s not any better or worse than any other day, but if you ask me (which you didn’t, but I’ll just say it anyway) I think it’s one of the devil’s favorite workdays….it’s just too bad he’s so stinkin good at his job.  And that…is why I blame it all on Mondays.

Oh so many things I could vent about, but I’ll just sit here and bite back all my words…Argurm, areghem, urhmmm, areugmm, areoagouejn.

Okay…but I will say this, you know it’s a Monday kind of day when you are meticulously ironing and get to the very last wrinkled sections on a garment and find the spot that didn’t wash out.

And THAT has been my kind of day.  Lord, help me.  And now I have to go back to the iron.

I Don’t Get People

And I don’t think people get me either.

In the past week, I’ve blogged at least 10 times.  And all ten times, I’ve thought…you know what?  I better not say that.

So I didn’t.  But I still want to.  So now I get to write a blog post while resisting the temptation to give in and say it anyway.  It’s easier to avoid temptation if you just avoid the thing all together.  That’s probably why people choose the easy route and live life in total abstinence of things that might be a challenge to balance appropriately.  Me, on the other hand…I like to do things the hard way.  LOL.

Maybe that doesn’t make sense.  Like I said…people don’t get me either.

But here’s my thing.  Why can’t we all just get along?  Why do we have to do things that just poke at each other?  Why does it matter if you believe one way and I believe another?   Why can’t we just live and let live…and for heaven’s sake, kill the tension and drama.  Can’t we overlook the human in people if we expect them to overlook the human in us?  Sheesh.

Maybe that’s why I’m socially inept.  I don’t do well with the politics of social interaction.  I have to work at it, and most of the time, I feel like an utter failure.

Oops, was I supposed to give them a hug?  Did I miss my cue?  Did they notice that I didn’t catch their name?  Uh, what should I say now?  Oops…that must be a sensitive topic, how do I get out of this one?  Oh my, that didn’t sound right…gotta fix it, gotta fix it!  Oh no…that didn’t help either…how do I get out of this?  Oh look, time to go…should I shake hands or am I supposed to hug them now or just do nothing and say bye?  They look like this is awkward…uh….what do I do, what do I do?  Are they going to take it the wrong way if I just say bye?  Oh no, they’re coming in for a hug…should I put my arms over or under….hope my deodorant is still working…or maybe a side hug would be more appropriate…no no no…I turned my head the wrong way and we knocked heads…how awkward….

Welcome to a small piece of my brain.  Yep…it’s pretty twisted.

And this is one of the many reasons I LOVE my husband…he’s like the social wizard…when he’s around, I’m only half as awkward.  LOL.

I don’t even know why I’m saying all this…confessing my faults, I guess.  It’s better now than it used to be, so I guess my hard work on this area is not totally for nothing, but it still irks me pretty frequently.  *sigh*

So for the record, if you ever spend any time with me in person and I am acting really weird or saying the dumbest things…now you know why.  LOL.

And this is probably the reason that I’m quite forgiving of others social misdeeds…within reason.  LOL.  If you’re obviously creating unnecessary drama, repeatedly…well, that’s a different story.  LOL.

And that’s the edited version of my last ten blogs.  It might not make any sense, but since you’re reading my blog, you probably didn’t expect to come here and get sense.  HA. =)

I’m going away now…I have the drama queen upstairs going off about her math problems.  Which brings up another point…why is everything always everyone else’s fault?  You make your own choices…own it.  Don’t be saying it’s the teacher’s fault for making you hurry when you’re the one who spent all your math time talking to your friends in class and then scribbled down wrong answers in the last five minutes and then have a weeks worth of failed math papers that you have to bring home and correct.  Yuck.  That irks me, too.  I’d say it’s an age thing and it’s not till you get older that you realize, duh…it really IS my bad choices, but there are some people way older than myself who have yet to realize this.

Okay…putting the soapbox away for REAL now.  =) =)  The tantrum upstairs is escalating.  Gotta go.

Moment of Truth

And now….

it’s finally here….

(okay, if you don’t count that the plumbing for the sink still needs to be tweaked a bit, and the pantry cabinet door still needs to be repaired and painted and hung)

Thankfully, I artfully snapped these photos to hide those little details.  Haha.

Too bad I had to tell ya and ruin it, huh?

Oh well…get on with it, right?  So I can go back to posting normal things again and not crazy remodeling rambles?

Okay okay

And AFTER:

and from the other side of the bar….

This entire project kinda went like that kids book “If You Give A Mouse A Cookie…”

Only ours sounded more like, …and when you buy a new light fixture, you have to take the old fixture down, and when you take the old fixture down, there’s going to be no box to attach the new fixture to, and when you buy a box and put it in the ceiling, it’s not going to fit in that spot because of a beam that is already in that spot that you couldn’t see when you cut the hole for the box, and when you move it over, there’s going to be a hole in the drywall that you have to patch.  Then when you get the box installed and patch the extra hole and sand down the patch, it’s going to knock another little random indent in apparently someone else’s patching from times before, so you have to patch that.  And THEN, when you get it all patched, you have to paint the spot for the light to go, but when you go get your paint, it doesn’t match the rest of the ceiling, so you have to paint the rest of the ceiling and then when you start painting the rest of the ceiling, you run out of paint, so only half the ceiling is painted but that’s okay because at least the part that is in the picture is painted.  So you go back to hang the light fixture and it still doesn’t hang tight against the ceiling, so you take it down and tighten the box and rehang the light (and then you do it again…and again…while holding the thing up in the air the entire time because it’s wired to the ceiling).  And then when you get all the lights hung up and turned on, it’s going to be too bright and…..we haven’t fixed that yet….we just wear sunglasses and sunscreen in the kitchen.

That was just the light….such is the story of this entire kitchen remodel….but I won’t keep going because it would take ENTIRELY too much time.   LOL

PS For the record, it’s the hubby who thinks it’s too bright…I actually like it bright.  =) =) And not ONLY because I want to be done….hahahaha

Anyway, it’s beautiful even if it’s not quite finished yet….and now I really really really need to get caught up on laundry and housecleaning (which has suffered to an embarrassing state during the remodel, since all my time has been devoted to…well…I don’t even have to say it, it’s so obvious.  LOL)

I don’t know how people remodel in such giant ways and still keep the rest of the house clean.  I’m going to hope they just have smaller houses so that I don’t feel like such a slouch.  hahaha

Why am I still talking…?  Yeah, I don’t know either.
