Finally!

IMG_8488ewebWell, today I’d have to say I’m thankful for our son.  He’s been with us for years (more than three actually), but today it was finished.  Today the official decree was signed at the courthouse…it’s over…no more worrying if the appeals will be won, if the termination will be overturned…it’s settled.  I am so happy!

K-man never knew of the battle and the only name he knows is ours…but we know…and we also see how far he’s come in the last three years.  He’s a good little man…and I’m so glad that now both of our kids are forever!  =)

Oh I’m also thankful today for chicken soup.  Woke up this morning with a stuffed up head and it progressed to achy chills…joy.  Chicken soup always makes me feel better though.  =)  I got some out to fix for lunch today and Munchkin (who was off today for teacher workday) asked, “Who’s sick?”  LOL.  I was like…um…sniiiifff… sigh….”me.”  “Oh,” she says, “can I have some soup, too?”

Randomosity

Oh dear.  It has been a day.

We went to DSS this morning to meet a toddler to see if we would be interested in taking him.  He was a cute bugger, but there were multiple factors playing into it that we just couldn’t overlook.  He was the baby brother of the two that we took two years ago that I couldn’t deal with…and although that wasn’t really any problem, the fact that those two siblings are STILL up in the air with their case because their judge won’t finish the process in a timely manner throws up some serious red flags for us (they have the same judge as K-man had).  I’m just not ready to go through the long drawn out battle again right now.  Plus, he was LITTLE.  I’m not about the baby thing now that things have calmed down again, PLUS I got rid of every last bit of things for 12-15 month old toddlers, PLUS our dogs are huge…and he was NOT…that’s just a recipe for disaster.  So we said no.  I felt terrible but I’d rather say no if I don’t have a good feeling that it would work out instead of shuffling him through another home after I figure out the hard way that it wouldn’t work.

I’ve had a headache all day.  Not a killer headache that makes you curl up in a ball and cry, but the kind that makes you stay in your jammies for the rest of the day and not feel like doing anything.  It also makes you wish for something good to read while you don’t feel like doing anything.  *sigh*  Chest is tight, too…I’m not sure what’s the cause for that, but it’s annoying.

I did piddle around on the internet for awhile…found a few links that I may revisit and try in the near future.

  • Cork board redo (I have a corkboard that is desperate for a face lift and this would be perfect!)
  • Autumn Subway Art (I am loving the subway art idea right now, and I like the words they used for this one…might need to copy! ;-)
  • Pumpkin Faces Craft (the kids would LOVE these and how adorable are they!?!)

And now I’m going to go take round three of advil/ibuprofen and another glass of water.

Oh, one more bit of random, I found a pair of Dr. Pepper jammie pants in NY and bought them.  They are like 3 sizes too big but boy are they comfortable.  They are also making my mouth water ALL the TIME…and I don’t have ANY Dr. Pepper to make it better.  *SIGH*

Who Invited YOU?

In the car today….Munchkin is jabbering on and on about some movie she watched at school.  I was only half listening (since I’d already heard the whole story at least twice already) and inserting appropriate “uh-huh”s when necessary…

Then out of nowhere, K-man, who has apparently been listening intently to the monologue, breaks in during one of her slight pauses to ask for clarification of her last statement.

“K-man! Who invited YOU to this convaSHA-shun? I’m TALKIN’ to MOMMA!  SHUSH!”

I couldn’t resist.  I had to smile.

But that didn’t hurt his feelings any…he just went right back to playing his game.

Later tonight though…when we went out to celebrate signing adoption papers (FINALLY…almost three years to the day when we got the little dude), K-man was taking a drink of his sprite and I’m pretty sure he didn’t realize he had sprite instead of water.  So he takes this lonnnnng sip and looks at me and in this very offended little voice says, “Mom, this drink makes me CRY!” and I look at him and his eyes are all watery….ROFL!

So his sister can be all rude and it doesn’t bother him, but a little carbonation kills him.

And yay, so happy that the adoption papers are signed and on their way through the process…hopefully about a month or so…

Crazy Life

IMG_8013ewebIt’s official, I’m a horrible blogger anymore.  I haven’t even felt like blogging anonymously lately.  Well, okay, I take that back…I actually have felt more like posting some major rants but I have totally resisted.  Partly because if anyone ever stumbled across my pink apartment (not that I actually HAVE a pink apartment), but IF I did, and IF I ranted the way I wanted to about the topics I wanted to rant about, it would give away my anonymity…lol.  Not that anyone will ever find my hypothetical pink apartment…teehehe.  How did I get on that?

ANYWAY.

So I really don’t even feel like being here now, plus it’s already getting late and morning is coming way too quickly these days…soooo…how bout I just wrap up with misc pictures from this month? IMG_8179eweb

I found this jewel at a yardsale on Saturday.  A quarter for the lid and plastic dish it’s sitting on.  I couldn’t resist it for $.25…it reminds me of my Grandma.  Grandma’s was beat up, too, and always had homemade biscuits underneath that dome…

Well, I ain’t Grandma, but I did bake some cookies today to put in it…and most of the cookies are gone already…how does that happen?  LOL!IMG_8181ewebSpeaking of Grandmas…KC’s grandma was here today…that was nice.  She’s 90, although you’d never know it…she is spryer (is that a word?) than most 70 year old’s…yikes. IMG_8024eweb

Let’s see…here’s a random shot from labor day.  This is when Little Mama was still here…

speaking of her, she’s doing good, I think…settling in her new place okay.  Weird though, with her not being here.  Gonna take a little getting used to again. IMG_8141eweb

And last, here’s a few shots from 9/18 at my cousin’s wedding.  Have a great night!

OH and the facepainting shots are from KC’s company picnic which happened earlier in the day before the wedding.  We washed it off before the wedding…somehow it didn’t quite fit with the formal look…lol.

For anyone who still reads this blog…thanks.  =)  PS I’m going to try to do better.  I don’t think there is an exact NaBloPoMo anymore…I think it’s any month you want to do it now, but I’m going to try for October…we’ll see how far I get.  LOL.  It’s good to have goals, right?  LOL!  Anyway, goodnight!

Home Again

IMG_8035ewebWell, here we are…home again.  That was one of the best weekends I’ve had in a VERY long time.

The bed and breakfast was so nice, spending an entire weekend with our long-time friends, shopping, going to visit other mutual long-time friends, and then traveling back together to pick up all our kids because we were all missing them…it was just so awesome.  I really needed it.

IMG_8097ewebThese are pictures of the lodge where we stayed (more pics in my facebook profile for people who are friends in real life…lol).  I was naughty though and didn’t really take any more pictures after we left here on Saturday morning though.  I had my camera, just didn’t have lots of opportunities that I felt like taking…lol.

IMG_8054ewebIMG_8060eweb IMG_8050ewebIMG_8061eweb IMG_8076ewebIMG_8081eweb

Awesome just doesn’t even begin to describe the weekend.  *blissful sigh*  We’ve all already talked about making it an annual trip!  LOL!

In other news…my girl (Little Mama) signed her apartment lease today!  We have her all set up with a vehicle, her utilities have been started, and she’s on her own insurance with her vehicle.  Now I just have to get her phone stuff in order and we have to get through court…just a few more days.  We’re both kinda sad but I’m happy for her at the same time.  I’m going to help her take a load of the stuff we’ve collected for her to her place tomorrow and do a little cleaning and unpacking.  The great thing is, small place = no time at all to clean and unpack…hooray!  That is one thing about the size of our house…cleaning takes DAYS instead of hours and there are still boxes in the basement that have not been unpacked.  LOL!

I’ve been crazy busy and I’m sure there are lots of things I should update about, but I get tired thinking about it and I’m sure you’d get tired reading about it, and I get the feeling that we’re all probably already tired without thinking or reading about it…so I won’t talk about it.  LOL!  That’s it.  =) =)  I wonder how many more times I can say IT in this paragraph?  IT’s okay…I’m crazy…you can admit IT cuz I know you were thinking IT!  *GRIN*

And since I have nothing better to say, I’m going to go away now.  =)  Thanks for reading.  =)

*tap tap tap* Is This Thing On?

So oops.  I’m not doing so great at the old updating these days.

I haven’t really been much in the mood for writing, not to mention the lack of time…and it’s like the days just blend into each other, so it feels like I just blogged, not that it’s already been a week.  Sheesh.

I think I might be in the mood for a bullet update…

  • Lil Mama is moved up to #3 on the apartment waiting list.  I’m not sure if she will move up any farther by the next court date since it’s only 2 weeks away, but at this rate, its looking kinda possible…we just gotta get everything else in order before then…
  • I didn’t send K-man to school.  On the day before school started, KC said just don’t even bother with it because he didn’t feel good about it either, so K-man is staying home another year.  So much for me being alone during the day.  LOL.  And except for the first day, K-man breezed right through the preschool review and knew all of it (just like I thought) and I’m going to go ahead and order Kindergarten curriculum and try to find a local homeschool group to get involved with…we’ll see what happens.
  • The church picnic was on Saturday…it was pretty fun…until I got roped into the cupcake eating contest.  LOL.  I’m not sure which part I regretted more, the embarrassing myself in front of everybody part or eating four cupcakes in less than a minute and winning the red ribbon…lol.  That was one of my more insane moments…I have lots.  Although, when I agreed to play along, I didn’t know that as soon as I was cramming my mouth, everybody and their brother would come over to watch.  With their cameras.  Oh well…guess that’s my payback for all the times I have taken pics of people stuffing THEIR faces…lol.
  • Here’s my monsters…they HUGE!  I think they grew about six inches since the last time I posted.
    IMG_7909e2web
  • Munchkin is loving school.  She’s riding the bus both ways this year.  She’s loving that, too.  But I’m not sure if she’s loving it quite as much as me…especially now that I’m not taking K-man, cuz now I can leave him in bed in the morning while me and the monster dogs walk Munchkin down the street to the bus stop.  And then all of us walk down to meet her in the afternoon.  So it’s nice exercise plus no waiting in line at the school, big PLUS!
  • I’m tired and I told KC I’d go to bed by 10:30…that’s 3 minutes away, which is just enough time to hit post….so….

GOODNIGHT!

Is There Such A Thing

As too much update?  Well, you might just want to click on to the next blog on your list if you think there IS such a thing…because IF there is such a thing, I think this post will easily qualify!  LOL.

Another busy week has flown by.  I don’t know where the time goes…seriously.  School starts on Wednesday…I can’t believe summer is already over.  I haven’t been so hot on posting this month, but I have been taking pictures.  LoTS of them, actually… Of course, we won’t mention that the month is almost over and I still have FOURTEEN more to get out of the twenty on the photo hunt list…lol.  Obviously I need to work a little harder on thatIMG_7797e8x10brightweb

BUT…I had my first random stranger pick up one of my cards and call for a session.  It was this week, went like a charm, and the photo cd has been delivered, I’ve been paid, and the client was (or at least seemed) very satisfied.  The best part was that I took 6 pics.  And had 3 keepers…I was psyched!  That’s my best ever!  Thank the Lord…I was a little nervous because you never know what you’ll get when you work with animals.  Upon request, I’m not posting the session photos, but that over there is a clipped out portion of the animal.  =)

Had court this week, weren’t able to get everything done, but Lil Mama’s lawyer wasn’t at court so they didn’t even do anything at all…  The judge was like, “Ms ____, do you understand that your lawyer is not here, and we will hear this case again on ____.  Is that satisfactory?”  And Lil Mama was like, “Yes, sir.”  So there we are…another month to get all her affairs in order so she can move out on her own.  We did find a few crumbles in these brick walls we keep running into though…on Thursday, we took some paperwork by the apartment she applied at, so that her application would be complete and she wouldn’t lose her place in line and they told us that she is somewhere around #8 on the list now instead of #11, AND she was approved for the low income rent assistance so she should be in GREAT shape for housing and not too much longer to wait.  She is getting nervous now about being on her own…all the responsibilities of adulthood are hitting her and she’s starting to feel it.  I’d be nervous, too, but I have faith that she can do it!

K-man’s preschool open house was Thursday evening…we were very underwhelmed.  The facility looked awesome.  The directors and staff were NOT so awesome.  Actually, very unfriendly, to be more accurate.  The teacher for his room was so-so…not AS unfriendly as the rest but not great either.  And although all the kids were four, K-man was the biggest kid there, already knows all the stuff they are going to be working on for the majority of the year, and one kid still had a paci…not a good sign.  On top of the preschool being like 25 minutes from my house (ONE WAY)…it’s just not sitting well with me.  I told KC I’d give it two weeks…if I still don’t feel good about it, I’m totally pulling him and doing Kindergarten at home with him.

In other news, I lost my calendar when we went to Ohio last month and I have been quite lost without it…especially given our hectic schedule…but I went and bought another one the other day and my brain feels SO much calmer.  LOL.  This one is a little bigger than my pocket one that I lost, so I’m writing all kinds of lists down in it….it’s lovely.  My anal self is LOVING it.  =)

We’ve got church tonight, revelation revival is all this week.  We missed most of it because of all the stuff already scheduled.  I had to take Lil Mama to her mom’s house one night to pick up her stuff.  Long story there, but it was quite the trip.  Mawmaw had my kids, and I was so happy about that.  It was drama.  But Lil Mama got her bed and a basket of her bedding that she needed for when she gets her apartment.  We will have to go back though, because her mom was not exactly thinking straight, so we didn’t get to get all of Lil Mama’s stuff.  Bummer.

We got up early this morning…(well, early for ME…lol…).  KC said I couldn’t get up at 5:30 to go running and I said I could, so I was going to but he said this was his only morning to sleep in so we went at 6:40.  (Tomorrow is supposed to be 5:30…lol).  Anyway, it was the best run ever!  We took the dogs before the kids woke up, and just ran around the neighborhood…and there was a yardsale a street over.  Spent $77 and had to run back home and get the truck to pick up our stuff.  LOL.  Totally made my morning.  HAH.  Got a whole bunch of bedding for the guest bedroom upstairs, some cool chairs for the basement (they look way better than folding chairs, lol….we would have gotten them for Lil Mama’s apartment but they are not at all her style…although two of them don’t match, so I might could recover those in a cool fabric and make them more “young adult” friendly…maybe), some craft stuff, a few house things for Lil’ Mama, and a free X-box.  LOL.  The free Xbox was because we were chatting with them while we were browsing and I mentioned that we were foster parents and they were like, OH!  You get this X-box then…for FREE, because my husband said he didn’t want to sell it, he would rather donate it to a foster family and here you are!  We were like, um, well, okay…how do you turn down free?  LOL.  Anyway, it was a great morning…and we met more of our neighbors.  LOL.

IMG_7865ewebWell, this is turning into a LOOOONG post, so I should start wrapping up I guess.  Here are two pics of the kids thisIMG_7866eweb afternoon…I gave them both haircuts after we got out of the pool this morning.  They turned out pretty good I think.  I gave Munchkin bangs again…I got them a little thicker than I thought they were going to be, but they still look pretty good.  She’s cute with them.  K-man is just wild.  Totally un-haircut-related, but he is hysterical when it comes to name-calling.  He uses the most random things to call names…instead of saying mean stuff like birdbrain or stupid (which I’m not complaining about that at ALL) he says (in the same tone as you would use when calling people those mean names) things like: Remote Control!  Banana Computer!  Monkey!  Volcano!  LOL…only our kids.

And then here’s a couple pics that I have taken that I probably won’t use for the photo hunt so I figured I’d post them.  The praying mantis we found this morning when we were outside and the other one is a dam that we pass on the road to church.  I took that while driving…(although you didn’t hear me say that…lol).  It turned out pretty good though….haha.

IMG_7851ewebIMG_7849eweb

And okay…I’m going away now.  This concludes my making up for a week and a half of no news.  LOL.

Stumbling Blocks or Stepping Stones?

Well, somehow I lost track of the blog for the last few days.  Been seriously busy.

Little Mama has 7 days till court now and we have been hitting the roads the last few days trying to get all her goals met so that she can move out on court day.  So Monday we went around all these places trying to get housing and looking for job openings and getting her signed up for school.  Tuesday we did more of the same and tried to get her drivers license.  She passed the written test but we ran into another roadblock before she could take the driving test.

Without insurance you can’t get a license.  With the DSS rules, you can’t get a car without a license and then, without a car, you can’t get insurance unless someone adds you to theirs.  So where does that leave ya?  That has been the story of our week.  Waiting list on all the housing that she will be able to afford, have to have 12 hours put in at the college before they will give you paperwork showing that you are enrolled in the GED program, can’t get on any of the waiting lists for state assisted daycare unless she’s already out on her own….

One thing after another.  She has been great about all the hold-ups though.  Instead of getting grouchy and discouraged like she really could have, she was very positive about it and said maybe God just wants her to stay where she’s at for another month (which is the backup plan if she doesn’t have everything together by next week).  I was like…wow…oops to me because I was getting discouraged and not feeling so positive about it.  She really really wants to be on her own and she technically could by next week if she just rented one of the available places (none of which are based on income and are pretty high on the rent) but when we sat down with her and went over a budget we drew up (as in, KC – Mr Brains drew up…lol) based on if she gets a job in the next seven days, she would make it for like 2 months and it would be tight, and then she’d be in over her head.  So I think that pretty much decided it for her.  Most places require you to lease for at least 6 months, and she just couldn’t swing it that long.  We did manage to get her license thing worked out, though, so she is now a licensed driver.  =)

She’s in a tough spot, but I think she’s managing it really well and making really smart decisions.  She’s working hard, too, even though it really doesn’t look like it’s going to work out in one week, she’s still trying really hard.  I’m proud of her.

Anyways, that has been the gist of our week.  Yesterday I took her to work a few more hours on her GED before church and I watched the kids while we waited on her.  I will have to find something to do when she’s there though…we had been waiting in the lobby (I took the kids gameboy’s and a magazine for me) but I was very politely told last night that the lobby there was not for kids, it was the student break room and we needed to find somewhere else to hang out and wait for Lil Mama.  I was like…um…okay…I thought the kids were doing really good, they were sitting quietly on a chair at the table and playing their games and Little Bit didn’t really cry much while we were there either, and it’s not like it was crowded…there was like one other person in there (and there were like 8 empty tables out of the 9 total) the whole time we were there, but whatever.  Just something else that we gotta work around.  Yesterday we weren’t even there the whole 2 hours, we just came in long enough for me to feed Little Bit and then we went to Chick-Fil-A to eat supper and let my two kids play while I watched Little Bit, and then I went back to the lobby with the kids to wait the last few minutes before Lil Mama came out.  Oh well.  Story of my life.

What else is there to catch up?  Um…I had a delightful meal at CFA yesterday…I got a meal with a Dr. Pepper (which I haven’t had many of, here lately, since I don’t have any at home…*sigh*) and because I ate IN so that the kids could play, I was able to go back to the counter and get a FREE REFILL!  WoOOOhoOO!  LOL.  It’s the little things in life!!

Speaking of the little things, my dogs are no longer little.  I should take a picture…haven’t taken one in awhile…they are big enough to pull me off my feet (not that I would know…or anything….um…anyway).  I walk them now with anti-pull halters.  LOL.  ;-)

And my other little things, those two little things that are my kids, are going to be in Preschool and 1st grade in about 2 weeks.  I’m not going to know what to do with myself.

I gots some pics I should upload and post but I’m just not in the mood to get up and do it right now.  LOL.  It’s 10:21 and I think I’m gonna hit the sack.  C-ya.

Hallelujah!!

Ready for the great news?!   Well, I don’t know if you noticed, but since Wednesday, I posted a few pics of K-man and his face wasn’t blurred….

IMG_7586e2web;-)

;-)

;-)

It’s not official that he’s got our last name yet, but the biological parent’s appeal was FINALLY denied and he is legally free now! THREE YEARS later!  But praise the Lord anyhow!  IMG_7585eweb

Now the adoption can go through and we can FINALLY have both kids with our last name!  Can I get an Amen?  *grin*

I screamed when our adoptions worker told me.  it’s awesome

Ohhhh.

Well.

My head has been splitting all afternoon.  I can’t stand it.  I’ve taken two advil.  Plus an advil cold and sinus.  Plus two excedrin migraine.  And it still hurts.

I think it’s because I haven’t had a Dr. Pepper today.

Whatever the case, even Dr. Pepper doesn’t sound good right now.  I feel totally icky and the dogs are making it worse…they are letting off every kind of smell that I never knew existed.  *gag*

I’m so tired.  Little mama had an appointment at her doctor in the town we used to live in today, so we spent the day down there…and went around town getting job applications and getting her an ID card and calling about housing and all kinds of stuff.  It was a long day…*sigh*

And I can’t think straight anymore.

And maybe my headache is because it is freezing cold in this house.  Well, okay, so it’s 69 degrees.  After a week of 86 degrees, it feels really cold.  *sigh*  I need a blanket.  And a bucket.  I’m just a bundle of joy today.

I think I’ll go to bed now.

Friday, June 04, 2010

Oh My.

It has been a week.  It’s been a week since I blogged, but really…it’s been a WEEK.  I have been running like crazy.  I’ve been back to the town we used to live in like every day this week…which isn’t such a big deal except you’re looking at a good half hour (especially when you follow those ridiculous speed limits which aren’t really for safety as much as revenue) each way plus time for appointments and such.  Plus, every time I turn around, I need something from the store, so between all that and Munchkin’s school drops and pick-ups, I’ve been in the van more than usual this week.

The dogs are driving me NUTS….I think because I’ve had them crated for extra hours this week.  Don’t know what the kids problem is though….I can’t blame a crate for the way THEY are driving me nuts.  And just think, next Thursday I won’t have a Kindergartener anymore.  Except I’ll have that EX-Kindergartener for the entire summer.  LOL!  YIKES….

Wanted: Sanity Pills.  Desperately needed.  In case I don’t find any, I guess I’ll go with Midol…will probably work just as well.  LOL.

Anyway, we went swimming a few days this week…when it wasn’t storming.  The pool is warming up nicely and the swimming is GREAT now!  *grin*  86 degrees today.  Woohoo.  The baby caught a cold and we took it to the doc today, so I missed most of the swim time with KC and the kids but I got back in time to get fifteen minutes or so in…lol.  Little Bit will be okay, I think…

Blogged over here on the private blog again.  Amazing as it seems, Little Mama and Little Bit have been here for 3 weeks already…soon be a month.  Crazy.  She fits right in, and hasn’t been a lick of trouble, *fingers crossed that it continues smoothly….lol*

Well, it’s really time for bed.  I need to get up early in the morning and get some stuff done.  *sigh*  One good thing about Munchkin getting out of school….hopefully I will get a few mornings of sleeping in.  HA.  RIGHT.  Maybe if I threaten them with no movies for a month, MAYBE then they’ll stay in their beds past 7:15.  LOL.  Okay…I’m gone now.  LATER!

Where Do I Start?

I guess I’ve been cheating a bit by posting videos of my adorable dogs instead of posting real blogs….sorry…please forgive me.  I’ve been a little on the busy side this week, not to mention when it comes to my personal life, that’s been a little disgusting lately and I haven’t wanted to bore (or gross out anyone) so I’ve tried to stay away.

But unfortunately, one can only do that so long before one runs out of cute videos and it turns into a bad (or sad) case of blog neglect.  And since I hate it when other people commit that crime, I’m here to keep from being the pot.  You know…the one that called the kettle black?

Speaking of committing crimes…I went yard saling this morning, and although I consider it a crime for people to throw trash in their yard, put a price on it, and call it a yard sale, that was the only crime committed this morning.  I went yard saling LAST Saturday morning as well, only it didn’t go quite as well for me.  Not quite as well, as in, $255 out of my pocket and not a single piece of yard sale treasure to show for it.  I didn’t even GET to a yard sale…I drove all the way across town and right before I got to this gigantic yard sale I was headed to, I got a blue light and a nice WHITE slip of paper.  No pink warning for me.  So I turned around and just drove back home without even getting in one single yard sale.  Man, I consider every single one of those things I just mentioned to be a CRIME…seriously.  Everything except the part where I had just turned onto a different road, hadn’t noticed a speed limit sign yet, and was very clearly out in the country and it *SHOULD* have been 55, in which case 60 wasn’t a big deal, not to mention the fact that I was from out of town and not familiar with the area….that’s a mistake and deserves a warning, right?  Hello?  And I was even really nice and polite to Mr. State Trooper.  BUT ANYWAY!  This week I followed all the highway rules and regulations.  I even went 10 miles BELOW the speed limit just for safety’s sake.  Not to mention I had cops behind me like three separate times and I’m now 1000% paranoid.  Not even rolling stops today!  I was NOT going to ruin my yard sale time like it was ruined last Saturday.  But then every single yard sale I stopped at was nothing but junk and I didn’t buy a single thing.  Phoooo---eey.

And we won’t even DISCUSS how much of a crime it is that every mistake I make gets me pulled over and KC can pass in a no passing zone, be going at least 15 over the speed limit, and not have his seatbelt on and the cop will wave and drive on by.  And I suppose I’ll have to admit, it was probably a crime for me to drive home that Saturday praying fervently that KC would get a ticket on his way home that very day so that I could get a little empathy.  LOL!

Moving on.  That gory-ness I mentioned earlier?  Well, I’ll just try to gloss over it, but I’m a total klutz (which anyone who knows me already knows) and totally ripped the top of my toe off almost up to my toenail on a sharp corner of the metal sawhorses in the garage.  Wearing flipflops and my toe slid underneath and I didn’t realize it and when I backed up, I tried to leave the top half of my toe under there.  I don’t even know how bad it was except that there really isn’t that much skin on the top of your toe anyway, so I’m guessing it was pretty close to the bone, I just closed my eyes and flipped the flap of skin back over the wound…and I’m not doing a very good job of glossing over this, am I?  Okay, well, skipping over the rest of that, I spent 3 days limping and bleeding through dozens of bandaids and was thisclose to going to the urgent care to get stitches, but it did finally stop bleeding every time I moved, and now it’s just blue and very sore.  Actually, my entire toe is blue and yellow, and looks kinda gross.  I’m sorry…I said I would gloss.

I’m just making up for a week of not talking.  ;-) ;-)

Speaking of not talking, I posted a full update on our kids situations on the private blog tonight.  If you don’t have access, feel free to shoot me an email.

Also on the topic of not talking, I’m kinda proud of myself, because I was reading something the other day that was completely inaccurate and I wrote out this long comment disputing it with facts and maybe a little sarcasm and then decided that I should just hold my tongue for peace’s sake.  You know, Peace….that’s Pete’s sister.  ;-)  So I just closed out the screen, took a deep breath, and said, they’re entitled to their opinion, just like I’m entitled to mine.  Thank the Lord for that gentle nudge that said, “You really don’t need to say that, just leave it alone.”  Of course, I can’t say that I’m proud of the fact that I tried to rephrase my disagreement in all kinds of different ways and without the sarcasm to try to find some way to be able to disagree without disobeying that nudge, but when I couldn’t, at least I listened.  LOL.  And that’s the beauty of the internet…if I’d been in person, I’d just have blared out my opinion and had to retract it; on the internet, I can blare out my opinion, think twice about it and delete it without saying it.  *GRIN*

What else from this week?  Oh yeah, Little Mama and Little Bit will be here til August.  She and I went out yesterday and thrifted up a brand new dresser for 15 buckaroos.  LOL…it was that cheap because the top was damaged, but we’re gonna use wood filler and then paint the entire booger black.  And since we are painting it anyway, I also picked up one of those bookshelf mirrors that was missing the dresser to go with it for 5 buckaroos….and we’ll just paint it to match the dresser.  It will work and that way she will have something to put her stuff in and a mirror to get ready in her own personal space.  So I was pretty psyched that we found a dresser and mirror for 20 bucks.  I’ll post before and after pics when I get it finished.

Court was interesting…I had K-man and I wanted to be in the courtroom this time since I was pretty sure she was going to decide to stay with us and I wanted to hear for myself what was going on.  And I don’t know who all has been to court lately, but around here, they don’t let you take in cell phones or purses or bookbags of any kind anymore.  Not even diaper bags…which is kinda stinky (LITERALLY) when you’re taking a baby in somewhere for more than a couple of hours!  Well, I needed something to occupy K-man (and also to keep him from hearing/seeing some of the stuff that goes on in court…this particular day, there were a bunch of juvie cases and a parade of little boys in chains came through the court during various cases…CRAZY!)  Anyway, I snuck in his Leapster case with fresh batteries and headphones and sat him in the floor under my feet where he played happily (mostly) and quietly (mostly) for 2+ hours and thank God, nobody noticed or heard anything.  LOL!

Gone swimming several days this week…weather has been awesome (minus the super thunderstorms, which we enjoyed from inside the house…lol).

And um…let’s see…tomorrow is my little brother’s birthday.  He doesn’t read my blog, but Happy Birthday anyway, Nate!  We are driving down to the town where he lives and going to church and lunch with him tomorrow.  My parents are going, too…that will be cool.  =)  Speaking of tomorrow, it’s almost here and I need to get some sleep….

NIGHT ya’ll!  Sorry for the boring and grody post.

Need To Find Some Happy

For some reason a lot of the stuff that’s crossed my mind lately has been a little sad or emotional…today I was watching bits and pieces of Antwone Fisher (great story on foster care issues) and this poem kinda hit me in the gut and made my eyes water just a bit.

Who will cry for the little boy?
By Antwone Fisher

Who will cry for the little boy? Lost and all alone.
Who will cry for the little boy? Abandoned without his own?

Who will cry for the little boy? He cried himself to sleep.
Who will cry for the little boy? He never had for keeps.

Who will cry for the little boy? He walked the burning sand.
Who will cry for the little boy? The boy inside the man.

Who will cry for the little boy? Who knows well hurt and pain.
Who will cry for the little boy? He died again and again.

Who will cry for the little boy? A good boy he tried to be.
Who will cry for the little boy? Who cries inside of me.

So somebody, SOME body, please tell me something happy!?  Between those songs and pages I made for my grandparents and stuff like the poem above…well…I’m about tired of my eyes watering like this.

The foster care thing is going okay…Little Momma is still taking really good care of Little Bit and has opened up to me slightly.  She is only a couple of months away from aging out of foster care and I’m not sure what the court is going to decide about her and Little Bit, but I hope, for her sake, that it works out for her.  Still don’t know what will happen after Monday, but we’ll see.

Munchkin only has a couple weeks left of school before graduating Kindergarten…yikes…can’t believe she’s gonna be a first grader in a few months.  Oh no…here I go again…I need another Dr. Pepper.  And a tissue.

Somebody?  Happy?  Hello?  Any happy out there?

A Question of Sanity

I wonder sometimes…I wonder where mine went?  And when it went?  Maybe I never had any…I mean, looking back at my childhood, I do wonder…lol.

Whatever the case, at this particular moment, I possess absolutely zero.

I proved that last night when we took an emergency placement of a teen and her newborn for a one night placement because it was after hours and DSS wasn’t open.  And again today when the placement they will be putting her in isn’t available until Monday and I agreed to keep her till then.  Actually, she’s not really any trouble and is doing really good with her baby, so it’s not like it’s a really big deal or anything but still…lol.  It does reinforce my thoughts of not wanting to take babies…lol…I’m so done with diapers and waking up every 4 hours…lol.

So I guess I shouldn’t have said last week that we never get called anymore.  LOL.

And by the way, if you happen to see my sanity floating around out there somewhere, will you grab it and hold on to it until I can pick it up?  *grin*

PS…on a totally random note, this dog laying across my lap just tooted and it REALLY stinks.  Figured you might wanna know that…or not…lol.

Un.Be.Lievable!

  • The hour that I got out of bed this morning to finish cleaning the house for a showing today (YAHOO about the showing).  And on the time…I’ll give ya a hint…the clock had a 5 on it and it wasn’t AFTER the colon.  (wincing)
  • The fact that I mopped the floor, cleaned the bathroom, cleaned the litterboxes, took a shower, made the bed, dried my hair, got Munchkin up and hair fixed for school, penned the cats in the bathroom so they wouldn’t mess up my clean house, got Munchkin to school on time, went to Walmart, came home and spot cleaned the carpet, went to the bank and deposited a check, AND got to court by 9:00am.  (Eesh?!?)
  • That they don’t allow you to take cell phones OR purses into the courtroom anymore?  I don’t get that at all…I mean, ya have to go through the metal detector and they search your purse before ya go in, so what’s the big deal?  UGH.  So no book to occupy me today.  AND I had to walk all the way back to my car this morning to put my purse and phone in it so I could get in the courtroom.  Unbelievable.
  • The way I flew home in the 45 minute break for lunch and vacuumed the house, cleaned up the cat mess in the bathroom, put the cats in their carriers (which is a feat in itself), picked up the stuff on the deck that the wind had blown over, threw together a sandwich (that I choked down on the way back to court), put the cats in the car, and got back to court with 3 minutes to spare.  And at least 15 minutes of that time was spent on the road.
  • The 1/2 hour testimony that happened in court today.  I had no idea a person could get their story so mixed up while they were “UNDER OATH” to tell the truth and nothing but the truth.
  • That another person could take the stand and say they couldn’t answer the questions every time the answer would have been incriminating.
  • That the second person to take the stand didn’t listen well enough to the first person’s testimony (obviously) and denied things the other one had already admitted.  Actually, the second person denied pretty much every single report that was in the court file.  NOTHING was true, it was ALL lies.  All those people made up all those stories that (OH, MY!) happened to all correlate. (please note, heavy sarcasm in those statements) Forget the fact that their two stories had so many crossed facts it made my head hurt.
  • That they didn’t get laughed out of court, or at the very least, fined for lying under oath.
  • The headache I walked out of the courtroom with….I don’t think my head has EVER hurt so bad.
  • What Jango evidently thought of my driving today…right after he puked in his carrier.  Then he had an issue out the other end.  The road was a little curvy.  Wasn’t my driving, I’m SURE.  But then I had to clean it up.  Unbelievable!
  • The fact that I had the Awful Headache and got home at 5 o’clock and didn’t call KC to say…um, honey, can we please do take-out tonight?  NOOOO…I put my big girl undies on and chopped up lettuce, grated the cheese, browned the beef, and had taco salad almost ready by the time the hubby got home.
  • The hubby who is listening to Melikiwikimaka (a hawaiian christmas song) and said “I feel like I’m saying a cuss word.” (ROFL!)  Only my hubby!
  • That I’m seriously contemplating giving my stinky bottomed (derrierred?) kitty a bath at 10:07 pm because I can’t stand it anymore!
  • That we’ve been told we’re going to get an offer on our house after the FIRST SHOWING!  Let’s hope it’s an UNBELIEVABLE offer!
  • That this blog post is getting insanely long and I really didn’t even have much to say.

Okay…one last unbelievable thing: that I haven’t posted the December Photo Hunt yet…so here goes:

Hey Look!

I’m back.  Twice in one day.  Be warned, this will more than likely be at least 90% random.  LOL!

First up…the house.  We have been busy little bees.

  • There’s the very large sheetrock patching in progress on the living room wall.
  • Pictures of the gorgeous decor pieces from our fruitful shopping trip to Hobby Lobby tonight (they’re having some GREAT sales, by the way)
  • The framed piece over the bed was a $12 deal from Habitat Restore (I was thrilled with that one!) and the two small pieces over the bed were HL and they coordinate soooo well…I picked them out…I am so proud of myself!

IMG_5084ewebIMG_5086ewebIMG_5087eweb

 IMG_5088ewebIMG_5095eweb IMG_5090ewebIMG_5094eweb

  • Not pictured is the garage (KC cleaned early this morning)
  • Also not pictured is all the places in our house where clutter collects that are now totally (or almost totally) de-cluttered and cleaned
  • Another thing not pictured is the canvas I put on the playground roofs.  It’s dark grey and looks peachy.  I totally rocked on that one because I forgot to measure for how much canvas, and I completely guesstimated it to be 5 yards.  I had about 6 inches left over and the width was right on.

Still on the house thing, we had an appraisal done this morning on our house to find out where we’re at on the home value thing.  In two days, our house will be officially for sale.  EEEEEK!  That kinda makes me sad because I love our little house.  *sigh*  I hope some couple that is looking for a first house (or downsizing) comes along and buys our cozy little place.  If they come along by Monday, that would be just peachy.  LOL!

And now for TOTAL randomness:

  • Munchkin’s therapy has already been quite interesting.  I found it a little humorous when the therapist looked at me with raised eyebrows and said, “She is a very fascinating child.”  I’m pretty sure she was using that word in place of “odd” or “strange” based on her other comments.  LOL.  Another thing I thought was quite interesting was that the therapist told me that she usually could read the situation pretty quickly and easily but that she was getting very mixed and unusual messages from the Munchkin’s behavior and signals.  According to the therapist, we are dealing with some kind of attachment issue/disorder and/or anxiety, and will continue narrowing this down until we figure out what exactly we’re dealing with and exactly HOW to deal with it.
  • Jango (fat cat) is sick.  I’m not sure what’s going on, but I took him to the vet today because--according to our lovely google-ness--he is showing all signs of kidney or bladder stones and needed to see a vet.  However, they didn’t really seem concerned (at least not about anything except the removal of my arm and leg in payment for bloodwork and consultation) so I brought him back home.  Anyone have any suggestions that don’t involve a vet?  Because unless he is in an ungodly amount of pain, I don’t forsee another vet visit in our future.
  • It is absolutely amazing what our kids pick up in church!  For those of you who weren’t at church for the revival last weekend, Bro. R preached one night on the weights.  God requiring things of us and us not wanting to put that thing forth for him and it making our life off balance…well, that’s the general overview….not exactly it, but paraphrasing a bit.  Anyway, he used one of the old fashion balance scales and coins, he would drop like a quarter in one side that God was requiring and a dime in the other side to show what it looked like when people weren’t wanting to fulfill God’s complete requirement and it put their life out of balance.  Of course, there was more to it than that, but I don’t have all night.  LOL.  Also, that night, he got in the pulpit at 9 and preached til almost 10.  Great message, but no one was really expecting him to preach that late.  My kids sat like troupers and were actually not even playing during the sermon (they were tired of their toys because they played with them during the song service because I didn’t expect preaching).  I didn’t think they were listening though because I knew they were tired and their eyes were glazed over and they were just staring the majority of the time.  (teehehe…I might have looked like them a couple times myself…not on purpose of course!)  So…this is turning into a long story, but we were in a thrift store this week and there was a balance weight thing on a lower shelf and K-man points at it and says, “Momma, we need money to put in that!”
  • Driving to church last Sunday (I think it was Sunday), KC swerved and then there was a thump-crunch-crunch
I didn’t see what it was, but I winced.  “It was already dead, right?”
“Nope,” he says, “I think them squirrels have a death wish, I’ve seen I don’t know how many squashed on the road this year.  *long pause*  Population control.”
“You’re awful,” I said, “I am SO blogging that!”

LOL!  And on that note, I’ll wish you goodnight before this post ends up on tomorrows date and I don’t have the two posts in one day that I was bragging about earlier in this post.

Thanks for dropping by! Have a great day (cuz that’s probably when it is by the time anyone actually reads this).  *grin*

Three In A Row

Well, I’m blogging for three days in a row.  Doesn’t that just give you warm fuzzies?  Oh.  I’m sorry.  It gave me warm fuzzies.

I’m exhausted.  But I don’t have H1N1.  Unfortunately, (poor souls) some people in our church DO have it, and the rest of us just have stinky old colds and head junk, so the choir recording this weekend was postponed…again.  They are still going to record some of the solos, I think, but the heavy duty stuff will be put off on another weekend.  Who knows when…

Supposed to go take that placement test in the morning, so I am hesitant to take another Alka-seltzer packet.  I’d really like to, though, because last night I slept SOUNDLY.  So soundly, in fact, that the only time I woke up was when KC jostled me while crawling back in bed (hmmm…maybe intentionally?) and let me know that he had changed K-man’s jammies and put him in the other bunk because he wet ALL the bed and it was stinky and he didn’t want to change all the sheets.  I never heard a thing…until KC woke me up to tell me that.  I can’t say as I blame him…because I remember many nights when I did the same thing and he never budged…and I may have (once or twice) been extra forceful when I crawled back in bed…just to make sure he became aware of my sacrifices.  HEH!  I asked if he had cried and KC said he did…so I was really out of it…I usually hear him.  And that was the last I remember until morning.  And then I had a REAL battle trying to make myself get out of bed.

So yeah.  I don’t think plugging that stuff into my brain will do me any favors tomorrow morning on that test.

Anywho…court really stunk today.  I have already vented and growled about it on facebook…I was soo so soooo mad.  They pushed it off again…so now December and then she’ll still have 30 days to appeal AGAIN (and based on the fact that she didn’t show for court AND still got an extension, I feel quite certain that she’s going to keep dragging it out) and then we’ll have ANOTHER year’s wait.  Mad doesn’t even begin to describe it.  Let’s just say that as I was walking to my car and noted the specially reserved parking spaces, some very vandalistic thoughts crossed my mind.  This was after the thought crossed my mind of speaking my mind in the courtroom when the judge asked if anyone had any objections to the extension.  Thankfully, I’m good at controlling those thoughts and not acting on them or else I might have ended up with a lot worse than a warning ticket.  I’m still mad though.  And incredibly frustrated.  I should get off this topic because I’m getting all heated up again.

On that note, I think I’m going to head to bed…because while I didn’t take an Alkaseltzer pack tonight, my eyelids sure feel like I did.  Night!

Hello.

I am going crazy.
.
.
.
So what’s new with YOU?

I hope you’re doing better than me.  I cannot believe I am sick AGAIN.  Why does this only happen on weeks when I have too much to do?  It’s making me insane.  Why can’t I be sick on the slow weeks when I have nothing major scheduled?

OH YES.  Sorry, Murphy, didn’t see you over there.  Can you move along now?  You are making me insane.

Not that I’m here to gripe, but I have not stopped moving today…or yesterday…in spite of awful stomach pain and head cold junk.  And this week is just nuts.

  • Tomorrow, it’s paint day at K’s…gotta get those cabinets finished…I feel terrible for leaving her hanging (and a bunch of cabinet doors NOT hanging) for like…months.  OUCH.
  • Tomorrow night: Girls night out. (hallelujah!)
  • Wednesday: More DEEP cleaning on the house (I’ll explain that in a minute)
  • Wednesday night: church
  • Thursday: Court and then I have to run by DSS for a meeting with the licensing worker (one of those things ya just gotta do to keep your license)
  • Thursday night: Choir practice and two girls at the house
  • Friday: Taking the kids to school and me and the two girls are going to see how smart we are (college placement exams…oh joy!)
  • Friday night: Choir recording for the cd (part one)
  • Saturday: Choir recording for the cd (part two)
  • Saturday night: probably a slow painful death from exhaustion
  • Sunday: church

And hopefully somewhere in the middle of all that, we will hear some good news from our real estate dude.  Nothing is going on…YET.  But…anyone want to buy our house? IMG_4134eweb It’s pretty and it’s nice and it has a really, really, really nice backyard.  And kitchen cabinets that are all neat (well except for the one last one that I haven’t cleaned yet).  LOL.  Yes, that’s what all the house cleaning is about—not that it wasn’t already clean (okay, well, we’ll pretend it was).

Speaking of clean?  We have a nobody ghost.  Did I mention it last week when there was um….smears all over the side of the toilet?  Don’t remember if I talked about it or not…but nobody did it.  And nobody did it RIGHT AFTER I GOT DONE SCRUBBING THE FIRE OUT OF THAT BATHROOM, TOO.  I was fit to be tied.  Well…I cleaned it – again.  Today?  I go in there and there is a yellow puddle – behind and beside the toilet and under the trash can…and NOBODY DID IT AGAIN!  ICK. IMG_4657eweb

What was I talking about?  Oh yeah…wanna buy a house?

Welp…time for me to hop off…hopefully somewhere between working my tail off and collapsing in exhaustion, I will find some time to sit down and detail what’s going on around here…

in a perfect world.

A world that doesn’t include Murphy.  Huhm.  That’s not MY world.  Well.  One can always dream, right?

An Unpremeditated Day

Yeah.  I just wanted to use a long word that meant “random.”

And also because today just kinda….well…it was definitely unpremeditated.

I started out running late.  I did have two appointments (get the cats to the groomers at 9 and a birthday party at 6) and I had a general idea of things that needed to be done in between those appointments (most of which DIDN’T).

Then.  Despite my BEST effort to not give ANY indication of the first appointment, SOMEHOW, Snowball was NOWHERE to be found.  I swan…that cat has a sixth sense somehow.  I didn’t have to chase her like usual, but I couldn’t FIND her.  Took me about half an hour (on top of already running late) and I finally found her (she had crawled up INSIDE the recliner).  Dumb cat.  So I get the cats in their boxes finally and the kids herded out the door….and hum.  My car keys are not in their spot.  OH YES, KC drove the car to the store last night.

Had a moment of panic in which I thought the keys might still be in his pocket and now a half hour AWAY, then I searched the living room kitchen area a SECOND time, panicked again, and called him.  Check the tables, he says.  Finally found them under a pile of papers on his NIGHTSTAND.  Such a logical location.  (Love ya, honey)

Finally got everything and everyone to their locations.  The cat groomer is about half an hour away so I really didn’t want to take the cats, come home, and then turn around and get them, so I decided to hit the thrift stores in that particular town and see if that would kill enough time.  Okay, and really…any excuse to go thrifting, right?

Found some pieces we can use for VBS along with a couple of other neat little things.

Went to a couple of other stores.

Munchkin saw a little frog sitting on the sidewalk outside this one store we were coming out of and when I looked around and realized it had somehow gotten into the middle of this concrete and glass Shopping Center and had nowhere to go that wouldn’t result in death, I had to rescue it.  I didn’t kiss it though.  I already found my prince.  Besides, I looked humorous enough just trying to catch the crazy thing.  I finally caught it, and the Munchkin and I returned it to the grassy field at the far end of the shopping center.  We wished it a happy, non-squished life and went to the car to squirt up with anti-bacterial gel.

Then it was close to lunchtime and the groomer said about 45 more minutes.  So I drove around the little town trying to get to McDonalds.  Got lost, and ended up finding a park before I found my way back out of the little dead end street maze I got stuck in, so I noted it and then after we went to McD’s we took our food back to that park and ate and Munchkin played for a bit.

While I was out, I got the call from DSS…our case for K-man that bio-mom appealed to the state level was overturned on a technicality (not because she should get another chance to get him back).  The TPR hearing somehow wasn’t approved in court and was amended instead of going through court again to be approved like it should have, so basically that means that we have to go through the termination hearing at the local level all over again.  If she hadn’t appealed, it would have stood and been fine, but the local decision was overturned by the state because they saw the paperwork wasn’t quite straight.  It is a bit frustrating but they said that nothing changes, she doesn’t get visits or anything, we just have to do it again and hope that this time she won’t appeal.  They said they are going to throw everything they have into the case this time (which I’m guessing they don’t generally do, they must only put the bare minimum of information…just enough to prove the child doesn’t need to return) and I’m hoping if they put down EVERYTHING, hopefully she won’t even try to appeal it.  So aggravating.

Anyways….fast forward.

Went to the big town in the OTHER direction for the party this evening…the Munchkin and I picked up the K-man and went early so I could get the rest of the stuff for VBS picked up.  Was in the Hobby Lobby and smelled something.  Rank.  “Munchkin tooted,” he says.  Sure, okay, whatever.  But I KEEP smelling it.  So I check.  OH PEACHY.  Munchkin tooted, my foot!

So we went to the bathroom to clean up…and it just wasn’t happenin’.  Let’s just put it this way…he went commando for the rest of the evening.  Side note to the Hobby Lobby, just hold your nose when you take out the trash, kay?  K-man left you a little buried treasure.

Did the whole birthday party thing and came home to finish vacuuming up the carpet powder I left on there when I left for the big town… and forgot that our LAST vacuum cleaner blitzed after using that same powder a few months ago.  Double Oops.  Currently has no suction.  And carpet powder dust is floating in the air.  PHOOEY.  So on my list for tomorrow is to attempt to take vacuum cleaner apart and see if wiping all the dust out would help.  PHOO---EEY.

My day.  Totally unpremeditated.

Dear God, thank you for watering the flowers and garden for me tonight.  After the day I’ve had, I needed a little help with my chores.  Do you think if I stuck my hampers on the porch, you could do my laundry, too???  Oh. Probably not?  Alright then.  Well.  I’m still grateful anyway.  =)

*SIGH*

Well, it's been another day.  I'm kinda tired.

Not a whole lot going on.  Had math today and then went to run errands.  Fun day.  LOL.  Tomorrow I've got to start working on tagging the consignment stuff, which means I have to kinda dig in the yard sale pile that has taken over the garage.  REALLY fun.  NOT.  Anywho.

In other news, thanks to a blog comment, I've got a new blog to add to my google reader and in reading HER blog, I found some excellent posts on foster care that SHE had linked and now I'm going to link them, too, because they are great.

You can't be a foster parent, but you can....PART FOUR

That's about it for tonight...just here and that's about it.  LOL.  Oh, and listening to KC watching youtube tutorials on trying to recover a crashed hard drive.  Well, an external hard drive.  The one that we had all our files and pictures stored on to be exact.  Yeah.  *grimacing*  I have a couple of years photos stored on backup at my mom's, but if we can't recover the stuff on there, we've still lost all the documents, music, and about 10 months of photos (as best we can figure).  Just LOVE the techy breakdowns.  NOT.  *sigh*

Other than that, maybe things will get a little more interesting again soon.  Haha.

Later!
